Last week I had a carotid sonar scan. The tech said he did not see anything that would warrant me going straight into surgery, but he didn't give me an all clear signal either.
I got the results printed out, but I don't know how to read them. I feel like if it was important the doctor would get back to me sooner than my 12/16 appointment. It is getting to my wife though. She wants to know right now.
Next, I am having a colonoscopy on 12/05. I have never had one and I am 75. Funny thing about it is, I don't know who ordered the Cologuard test that I got a couple weeks ago. My primary physician did not order it. The note that came with it said it had been ordered by a medical professional. And, of course it came back positive.
So, depending on the outcome of all of this, I may be selling my 67 GTO, 1950 Pontiac Streamliner and my newly restored 1989 Bass Tracker Panfish 16 boat.
Even without the possible health issues I might be facing, I have been thinking about selling to lessen the burden on my wife when my time does come.

You don't want to sell modern medicine short. A friend in my GTO club failed the sample test and then they tested further and ended up removing a foot or so of his colon. That was a year ago and he's tested clear since then and 100% back to a normal life.

.cologuard tests are not 100% accurate. Like Mick said modern medicine is getting better every day. Wish you the best.

Had my carotid arteries checked a few years ago, my right side was 100% clogged the vasular surgeon said they don't do anything about that side. My left side was pretty clogged also so They operated on it and opened it up. Thankfully there are collateral paths in your brain to share the blood flow.

Short story...get a carotid ultrasound, it's simple, and can save you from a stroke.

The tuff part was dealing with the FAA to reinstate my third-class medical.. I needed to supply every medical piece of documentation I could get to prove I could still fly. Took more than a year, after each required document submission, they replied they wanted more......

I feel fine and will get ultrasounds each year.

I've been getting a colonoscopy's every three years for the last thirty-five. I have a tendency to grow polyps in my lower intestine which can be cancerous. They clip them off and do a biopsy.
Not much to it. They put you to sleep with a mild anesthesia (sometimes not) and next thing you know, there's a beautiful nurse (or not) holding your hand and asking you what's your wife's name is.
The hardest part is the fasting the day before and drinking the magic elixir that flushes you out.

At 45 yo get a colonoscopy then one every five years some every 10 years. One of the most curable cancer's when detected early. IMO the color guard test should only be used after a colonoscopy in follow up years. (I am not a doctor). Good luck and stay on top of this issue.

Another thing, if you have an opportunity to get CTscan of something see if you can get a widespread scan I had one to check my abdomen, ie. bladder, kidneys, prostate, urethra, etc, Everything normal xcept gall stones I showed no symptoms, either, surprise to me. Had that removed a month ago. You never know.......

The ultrasound was what I got. I just got it confused with sonar.

There is a new prescription available now that is a lot smaller than the one gallon jug. But, my copay on it would have been $200. I am on medicare. I guess i can drink the gallon that was free.

It's Suprep, or it was years ago. You mix it wit 8 oz of clear liquid and drink several 8 oz glasses over time. Easy. I used 7 up to mix.
