Well, I got my wish, sort of. The colonoscopy only revealed one polyp and it hadn't turned bad, but my doctor said it would have soon.
I got home and laid down for a while. About lunch time I got the urge to pee but couldn't. I tried drinking fluids but still couldn't go. I called my Dr. back about 3:30 but the office closed at one. The answering service paged him and he called me right back. He told me to soak in a warm bath for a couple hours and if that didn't help go to the ER and get a catheter put in. If you have never had a catheter inserted I pray you never have to! The only pain that compared to it was the pain from my bladder. When the catheter finally got to my bladder the relief was immediate. But, lab reports showed I had an Urinary tract infection too. So, after two days of hell and heaven I am laying here with a tube in me and emptying a bag every 6 hours. I was told that my prostate probably squeezed the urethra shut causing my problem. I released 1900ccs of liquid before they let me go home. They also said I was very close to having my bladder burst. I have to make an appointment with my Urologist in the morning, I hope the catheter doesn't hurt as much coming out!!

A catheter has a balloon like device on the end. It is inflated After insertion. This keeps the catheter from slipping out. When it is deflated and removed you will feel immediate relief and it typically doesn’t hurt. If someone pulls one out while the balloon is still inflated, serious damage can occur.

Due to the average age of us on this board, this is something that hits home with many of us. As a cancer survivor myself, I know of the anxiety waiting for the results. I’m wishing the best for you.

I stopped at Hillman Greensburg where the nurses gave me the immunotherapy IVs. They hugged me also. Also they had me ring a bell 3 times, it's for people who are in remission. I got the catheter out last Wednesday. No problems. I didn't even have any pain or burning while relieving myself. The doctor put me on Flowmax to help, but I think the pharmacy messed up and gave me Gomax instead! I can set my watch by my bathroom visits. Every hour while I am awake, but I don't get up during the night to go. I have a follow up with my Urologist in January and will go from there.
I am glad the other old goats on here are doing well and hope you continue to do so. With that being said, I really don't want or need anything. My wife keeps asking me what I want so I told her I would like a new trail cam to get pictures of the deer and other critters that visit our backyard.

Was at Tractor Supply today and they had one of those Jeep Go Carts in Desert Sand color.
Marked down to $1699 . Even lower than Black Friday/ Cyber Monday prices. Parked outside the door and a lot of people were checking it out. If I had a need for one besides just clowning around it , I might would pull the trigger. |
