Reading a 1949 Hot Rod magazine article about a dry lakes event, I was amused that "Mickey Thompson failed for the sixth time in six events to make a successful run".
Wow= he surely make up for lost time in the following years!

Probably gremlins !
Hard to make a car go that fast for that long without some issues popping up. Or could have been he just added forced induction.

Not sure of year. Had a 3 or 4 speed. Has a 352 badge on the fender.

I know nothing about this photo other than it looks vintage. When was the last time you saw studded tires on a 70-73 Firebird?

Those are 66 Mustangs that Ford had customized by George Barris , for a movie called Good Times starring Sonny & Cher.
Then gifted the cars to them.
In that picture they could pass more for 63 Pontiac Tempest than a Mustang.

Barris did some great customs , and some really goofy ones.
Wouldn't call these great ones . imo
He did a customized pair of Yamaha street bikes for them too , to be in the movie.

It looks like Barris actually used '62 Tempest front bumpers on those Mustangs??

I couldn't say about the bumpers , but the front end does have suspicious flavors of 61-62 and 63 Tempest.
Side pipes and rear valance exhaust would be cooler features if they were selectable between the two.

In one original picture in the MT article there is a glimpse of one of the motorcycles.
Looks like it has a saddle type of seat.
