My other best bud brother had a 68 440 Roadrunnr 4spd with 3.91 gears.
That was crazy fast to 110. Not like all 383 Mopar slow **** boxes my 400 ate up. Other bud hsd a 67 cameo with 427 4spd 4.11s just as fast. Whats a pontiac guy do keep up? 70-455 with #12 heads with 256 sft. Same th400 and 3.23 gears roasted both on street and strip.

Got off track...
One nite at our usual Friday nite party I walked in hour late after winning street race for 100 bucks. Kinda just ok you think you have a fast car kind a deal. Never talked like assholes on tv street outlaw ass wipes. Just ok let's do it... Walked in and saw this girl across room never seen before looking at me. We locked eyes...I was hooked and she knew it lol.

Took her to Y&W outdoor theater next weekend. A guy with a 69 428 mustang was there.
Your car is slow! Is load but slow Here we go... After movie take my date home then be back. She said no go beat his ass now! Wait you don't like my racing. She said get i will if your chicken.

Hmm... I think I was getting Bicentennial stickers out of a Cheerios box, and putting them all over my banana seat bike with hi rise handlebars. The stickers looked like the dash of a Trans Am.

It was about two weeks after my 16th birthday, and I looked at two 1969 Firebirds. one was maroon w/white vinyl top, 350HO, a/t w/3.90 gears, $1800. The other was gold met, 350HO, a/t, 3.55 gears and a/c. I offered every cent I had, $1200. Had to wait for two weeks while the seller was on vacation for an answer. It was the looongest two weeks of my life. On March 11th, 1976, the Gold Bird as we now call it (I have five Firebirds now) was mine. It still sits in my garage today. Both my boys drove it in high school as well. My oldest, has claimed it as his now. My youngest son has claimed my second car, purchased May '77 for $400. A 69 400 Firebird convertible w/blown up engine as a high school auto shop project car. Both birds are drivers, they run great. We drag race and autocross them. Both still could use a paint job.

I was 16 spending more time working on this than driving it.
I had found a 69 Catalina 400 and trans for $30, and being a Pa car, it was pretty rusty. It ran pretty good for a first car It's funny, but a little scary now, I felt perfectly safe under the cement blocks with a bumper jack as a safety. .png)

Fifty years ago (1976) I was a senior in high school. Dating a pretty girl and driving a 1965 GTO. Many cars and motorcycles have come and gone since then, but I've still got the girl.

50 yrs this month. Driving 63 421 GP with M40 to work at Kennametal, tool and die designer.very good experience. Involved with Catholic Alumni Club in Pittsburgh. Monday night volleyball then beer and pizza in Squirrel Hill.Friday nights dancing. Saturday nights movies. Sunday afternoons picnics. Very busy. No dating just meeting alot of nice people.It was
so much fun. This where I met my wife at a Friday night house party. We were sitting on the floor talking in a round circle. Someone threw a milk bottle in the center. Spun the bottle. 1st spin It lined up with me and a new girl in long black hair. Me being naive didnt know, they said you have to kiss her!! Sooo I did, she said this is childish. That woman would be my wife 2 yrs later Bobbie. 42 yrs ,2 mos,17 days then her sudden death. Through all those years, bills,rent ,buying a home,etc NEVER once did she sell SD455. |

SDBOB, your story touched my heart, brother. My wife and I just celebrated 36 years, and our story had a 77 T/A when we dated.

Sometimes I wondered about how my wife and I met,and all the 'things' that happened. Even after her passing,somethings I think this cant be a coincidence. I think God has a plan for all of us.

You guys that served while rest us where steet/strip racing drinking beer and in back seat at drive in theaters  Oldest brother was an MP in Saigon. Next older was on short list but didn't get drafted.
