Hey Guys,
I recently purchased a 63 Tri-power setup and would like to identify all the pieces I need. It came in pieces and with 5 extra carbs. The 2 dumps were easy to find, but there's 6 "Center Carbs" and I don't know if any of them are correct. Please see photos and see if you see the correct one, or one I can use. I'm not concerned with matching numbers or anything like that. Just need to know how to proceed from here. Thanks!!

you need to get casting numbers and check information that is available with searches here. But from what I see in the pictures a 63 will have the auto choke without the tube in the stat center, will not have that big filter in the fuel inlet and will not have that little umbrella vent cover.

From the pictures I see, the one that has the stainless steel vent cover on top, appears to be the correct center carb. The other carbs look like chevy. The one that has the vent pipe coming out of the choke thermostat is 1959 and older.

Thank you both! That was hugely helpful.
The center carb you guys ID’d has the number 7019927 (photo labeled “Center Carb 2” above) and the 2 dumps have the number 7011997 for both. Based on some research here on the forums, those are like 61 carbs? Should work though right? The plan is to put this on my 64 389. 3 others have vents coming out of the thermostat. Does that mean all 3 of those are 59 & older? Thanks again!

THe 4 of 5 in the first group is the best choice. It is correct for your '63 setup. The 1 of 3 in the second group is correct also but missing the choke housing. The brass Tee fitting on the rear of the base is a key item you''ll need.
The end carbs look correct. Pick the ones in the best condition to restore. You need one with a tapped hole in the rear of the base and one with no hole. DM me for more info. I can provide pictures, fuel lines, linkage, choke heater tubes, and whatever else you need to complete the Tri-Power. I have three complete '63 setups here, plus any parts you may need.

That intake is a '61 or '62. It will work but does not have provision for PCV like '63 Tri-Powers used. You can drill and tap to add PCV to your manifold. I can send pictures to determine location for the 1/8-NPT ports of you need.
Or, if you want a '63 intake manifold, I have several.

7019927 is used for the 1961-65 M/T center carb.
7011997 is used for the 1959-63 outer carbs. Your center carbs #2 and #4 looks like genuine Pontiac Tri-Power units. #4 for 1965 M/T, #2 for 1961-64 both A/T and M/T. Check this out (thanks Jon at "thecarburetorshop"): https://www.thecarburetorshop.com/Tripowerspecs.htm |

Well, I'm a little beside myself at the moment, but excited to share. My cheapest route was to rebuild this thing myself. Including the carbs. Turned out better than I hoped!
Tomorrow is installation day and I hope it runs well. Thanks again for helping ID everything I had! I probably used parts from about 6 of the carbs to rebuild these three. And I modified some of the linkage and what not, but all seems to be working fine.

Hot air pipe to the choke coil should be all steel. It looks like you have a piece of hose on there, dont think that is going to work. Looks good otherwise.

Quote:
He needs both steel choke tubes for the hot air choke to function. The missing one connects to his air horn with a short section of rubber vacuum hose, this is where the air flow starts to the choke thermostatic spring. Dick makes and sells the correct tubes. Pictured below is my 1964 421 HO, carbs restored by Dick along with his fuel lines and choke tubes. He was even able to supply custom choke tubes that were slightly longer to work with my .280” thick phenolic carb spacers. Zoom in to see how the choke tubes should look.
