I'm not in the market for a new vehickle but they have some interesting ideas to take on Gina in the EV market.
With an f150 with a stupid 20" touchscreen nobody wanted at 100k maybe they are onto something for average joe: https://youtu.be/L6_9_HHLOSY?si=Z1qmpSpAzO3Ow1md

Key Pricing & Feature Details:
Base Price: Projected around $25,000–$27,495, though final pricing will be announced in mid-2026. Design: A two-door electric pickup, with options to convert it into a 5-seat SUV. Range: The base model is expected to have a 150-mile range, with a 240-mile range option available. Customization: The truck is delivered in a basic gray, allowing owners to customize panels and features. Add-ons: A separate SUV package, featuring rear seats and a hatch, is expected to cost around $5,000. Ummm, its electric, no one is repairing batteries or motors. so good luck with that lol

Like a disposable Hyundai at crazy Eddie pricing.
No radio, crank windows no frills. SUV converter with roll bar option. Mom and pop or diy wareanty. A lot of good ideas there.

That's crazy.
I'll prolly drive gas rite up the straight of whoremooz but it is tempting at that price even if it is a golf cart.

I have to believe an entrepreneur like Bezos would have produced a comprehensive marketing forecast prior to investing. So, there must be a significant demand for a vehicle like that. Personally, it is not for me. I can't think of a single time in my life that it could have replaced any of my vehicles.

FWIW;I owned a electric [plugin] lawn mower in the 90's for 8yrs very small yard.
Worked great no fuel to go bad and no batteries. With massive AI centers being constructed, power in the grid is already being taxed beyond capacity. I think the next coming boom is big Tech finally realizing - promoting new Nuclear Power plants. It's the only way this all pencils out. I'm not a fan of Ev's obviously.

Absolutely, I'm especially fond of our Navy Nuclear fleet
Why are you confused about that?

We can't even approve a new Nuclear Plant within 5yrs. If you think electricity is expensive now, give it 5 more years.

Slate Auto, the electric vehicle startup backed by Jeff Bezos, has raised $650 million to fund its effort to bring a mid-$20,000 electric pickup truck to the US market by year-end. Apr 14, 2026

Most Americans are smarter than that. But we'll see.

I like the bare bones content, especially the tablet part. Might be different if any of the current OEMs had a published API for open development but now you have to pay for the screen and lame applications then plop your phone or tablet in front if you want anything else.
I understand many big data centers are generating their own power. So they consume natural gas, not power from the grid. |

Just one step above a bare bones 4x4 truck for me. Electric windows, doors. Not even electric outside mirrors. Basic sound system with a single cd player, no computer screen. 2015 $35k CDN (including taxes). Gps on my phone if I need it. While driving, texts, calls I ignore unless I think it's important, then I pull over. I do like my wife's computer on wheels only for bluetoothing the music, gps and answering texts, calls on the fly (still a distraction while driving).

Still not a fan of Bluetooth or mp3 gotta be Cd's.
It's kinda weird how we've been sold on low quality streamed music, but the way modern music is being produced it's not surprising.

I would suggest that the group on this forum is not the current market car buyer so whatever design principles that they are putting into this vehicle are going to seem odd to us but more on trend with what the market actually wants. In other words, a lot of us are old curmudgeons who’s “ideas” about what the vehicle should be are way out of date with the times.
On a similar note I’m seeing the industry pass a lot of us by as we age and lose touch with what the market actually wants and buys $$$
