Default New dyno results

Finally got the 0.060 455 I put together several years ago to the dyno-and before the 100 degree Texas heat. Although it was 80 in the cell and 80% humidity as it was raining all morning.

Combination 0.060 over 455 was 0.040 when I bought it needed freshening. 455 Crank, SCAT 6.626 rods SD dished Ross pistons as heads are 72cc Round port Edelbrocks. SD Peformance 320-325 cfm. Set up with his springs for a HR 99893 but I had to shim them to 1.740 to get 149ish seat pressure. HS 1.5 rockers. Comp 857S lifters. Stump Puller HR Lobe 3111B/3122B 112LS +4 degreed in at 109-close enough on my wheel. 230/236 @ 0.050 lobe lift .3770/.3800. The tall port on these heads needed my Torker II to have some extra weld at the top to seal then remilled. 2" Hooker 4202-my old trusty dyno headers. EGTs on dyno not working so plugged my headers. Polydyn coated so they quit rusting! Satin silver. Oil pan a Canton GTO road race I had extended the front sump forward like the F body but it is maybe 1" deeper so a little more capacity and used the Canton pick up. Poyldyn DFL the pump gears and Teflon on pan with the Canton tray in the bottom-extended it after the teflon coating. Safety wired the bolts.

HP 1000 I put together and sent to Jeff Shaker 455 for his tweaking years ago. jets 80/90 no rear PV. 50cc pumps both front and back.
Got the distributor stabbed right at 36 total before I brought it DUI HEI.

First pulls carb no spacer.TQ 4500 574 HP 5100 540
Added jets to 83/93 an tq 595 @4600 HP 563@ 5300
Added more jet 85/95 TQ591@4500 and HP 568 at 5200 and 5400
BSFC pretty much the same all the way up. Good job Jeff on the bleeds and tweaking in the main body. The 10 jet split seemed high but the fuel was identical front and rear on the meter
Still no spacer at all on a T2!

1" Open spacer TQ 598 @ 4600 and 567-8 5200-5500.

Wilson 1" Taper 4 hole to open 602@ 4500 and HP574.8@5300 573 @ 5400.

Swapped on an HP 950 by list number body I had added 850 DP metering blocks and bowls 50cc front pump. jetted 83/89 TQ592@4400 HP 566 @ 5400. BSFC getting fatter above 4800. did not take the time to tweak bleeds.

Tried a buddies 1050 Annular booster but needles were stuck so had to pull the plugs and blow out all the gas. I did not want to rebuild it so that test will be for another day. Only carb I did not go through first of course.

Here is the big test for the finale-a set of 1 3/4-1 7/8 Tribal Tubes tri Ys! same HP 1000 same jetting.
TQ 590 @ 3900 595@4200 589 @ 4700
HP 552 @ 5500 rpm.

I'll scan the overlay of the Tri Ys and 2". I had some step 1 3/4-1 7/8 Hedmans but they did not have a collector flange and dyno's exhaust needs one.

So for those of you all that say a T2 has to have a spacer -well a 1" taper helped the best but only 7-10 ft lbs and 6 HP! One pull even less HP loss!
all had a pretty darned flat TQ curve. Maybe 2" spacer but sure not under a Shaker heck the 1" is not happening.

One down side an oil leak at the back driver's corner hopefully a pan leak.

Anyone know a way to convert the Windyn file to a PDF? Easier than printing and scanning if possible. Windyn is a program to open the dyno sheets from Superflow

Nice! Shows you what good head flow will do. Do you think the old faithful cam would of helped out?

Skip,
You need something Foxit PDF Printer or the Full Adobe. You can then select them as your printer and the output is a pdf.

This info might help ya.

A stock TII besides it’s on the small side Plenum (for 455s or bigger engines ) has runner area is sized for heads with a 1.80” throat, and out of the box E heads are over 1.90”.

Impressive for the Stump Puller cam and 1.5 rockers. What compression 11 to 1?

Very impressive for the Stump Puller - is it the original version? I have it in my bird which has a 461, 290 d-port E heads, 1.5 HS rockers. On dyno, with a port matched rpm, Holley HP 950, 2” headers - made 521 hp just shy of 5400 and 631 tq.

10.25:1 dished Ross . Dave feels higher with the piss gas situation he feels is pushing it. Not sure on if original or not why I listed lobe numbers.
Idled a little lumpy at 800 rpm and 14" vacuum!

One other weird deal it blew out a piece of the fuel pump block off gasket. It was siliconed and it still blew out and was very crumbly.

Steve when you measure plenum size the T2 is larger than the Victor. This has taller ports and I blended way back into the runners as far as I could.

I have the exact same headers. I love them but my buddy, who built most of my engine, says are costing it some power. He was mad my engine didn't make over 600hp, it made 590, close enough for me. It has a Crower hydraulic roller with 241* and 251* with .618 lift with 1.65 rockers. I am only around 12-14" of vacuum with an 850 Holley and Performer RPM.

Yes their old one I still have. They both fight over who gets it! TH350 and a 3.08 30 spline posi. All new suspensions since them Global West arms, extended second leaf springs I had made, Bilsteins, 550 lb front springs. Although the 4WD brake booster just took a crap. Probably easier to swap it when the motor is out!

Great numbers! I see a lot of fuel changes were tried but I didn't see any on the timing. Did you try different total timing numbers?

No timing changes almost all the early chamber E head motors I have liked 36-38. on timing light at 0 on dial we were at 37 on the blancer and on the dial wer were at 38 so within a degree.
I wish I had freshened to annular booster carb so we could have made a pull on it.
