Shaeffers in all my stuff now.
If a oil can get 1,000,000 + miles out of gas engines, regularly get 1,000.000 miles on diesel engines and get 4-7 more HP on a dyno than Mobil 1, which is a great oil what else do you need to know.

Driven HR5 or Valvoline VR1

VR1 for 40+ years street/strip/riding mower. Never found any reason to switch

Grocery Getter: VR-1, 10w-40
Boss Bird: Valvoline Nitro 70
Road race car: VR-1, 10w-30
Duramax trucks: Valvoline diesel oil 15w-40
Daily drivers: Valvoline synthetic 5w-20

All successful; no reason to switch; no reason to think other oils would be better or worse. I'm probably biased since we got to know the guy who used to be Valvoline's Chief Scientist and he really impressed us with their company's knowledge.

They didn't. Might have been a finger slip. We ran VR1 10W-30 in that one. I kinda wish they did make VR1 in a 10W-40. My SD-455 with the loose clearances runs slightly low oil pressure hot with 10W-30. About 15-18 PSI @ 750 RPM in drive hot.

For the last 50 plus years I have used whatever main stream brand was on sale. Never had an issue. My preference these days is Mobile 1 10w30 if it is on for a good price.

71 motor ( 400 pontiac) VR 1. 10w30 and 1 quart of Lucas oil stabilizer for the last 25 years .
Never any issues. ( bracket racing)

Nothing wrong with that, I did something like that for years, no issues.
Hard to get past more HP and million mile engines like Sheaffers is getting folks these days.
I bet Driven has some great oil too.

I have a case of Schaeffer's for my first oil change. Switching from Driven GP-1 break in oil.

Brad Penn for me also, been using it for many years and never a problem. I guess I’m old school so it’s 20w-50 in all my cars, but I only use the cars in warm weather. Holds 60 psi at idle cold and 40-45 psi hot. I have noticed that the 20w-50 of today seems to pour easier than the stuff from years ago.
