Those round circles look like o-ring grooves?
Are they a groove or just marks left from a gasket? What is the engine code for the block?

They are raised grooves from what I can tell the block has been machined at some point.

If they are raised it probably is sleeved?
Usually they are milled flush with block.

Looking at the underneath pic, it could be sleeves. They will not fill the bore all the way to the end usually.
Is there a step at the bottom?

Looks like my O-Rings. My block had also been sleeved in one cylinder and that stepped space on the bottom looks same. Make sure you remove the o-rings and save them when you hot tank the block.

Looks like they do have step at the bottom and the o rings are raised slightly. It is a 4 bolt 400 block

I have no problem with them. If done right.

Fill the block to below freeze plugs if you are concerned. I run mine and its keeping at 180 temp when my fans and water pump are working!
