Where did you source the Judge strips from? Do you know what brand they are? How's the reflective quality?

Think I remember somewhere someone said Phoenix Graphics made the best?

Default Still Alive!

Made it through the blizzard, more snow today, thought I'd post up a couple more pics while I get ready for the appraiser.

For some reason, I couldn't see this post until I posted again, sorry it took so long.

These are Pheonix graphics, reflective quality is excellent, have to shut off the flash on the camera to get actual stripe colors. I have NOS ones as well, some say there are differences but I couldn't tell. Laid them out on top of each other, peeled back some of the top covering to look at widths and colors, both the same. I also used the gel they supply, zero bubbles. I took a lot of pics of stripe measurements on the Judge before resto because it had original stripes, one side was right on the body crease, the other was 1/2" high, assembly line installed you know, in the end I installed them per the assembly manual. .400" up from the crease, 7/8" from the endura edge, and 3" from the door jamb.

Default Cool Pic!

Born with engine, tranny, shifter, and rear end sitting by the Judge. Like the IV motor, I built this engine, Its .020" over, Crower solid 60310 cam, Eagle H beams, Speed pro pistons, original crank. The M20 trans was restored by Jody Haag, 3.55 posi rear by Jim Mitchke, shifter myself, stick re-plated at Pauls Chrome.

The original door handles, door handle push buttons, Headlight bezels, blinker light bezels, shifter bezel, exhaust tips, and one door lock pull knob were re-plated at Pauls as well.

This site is buggy sometimes Jason, at least for me it is. I tried to reply to a PM you sent me for two days and the site would time out on me. Maybe your response has been seen but he can't reply. I never get notifications when people do reply, although there isn't a lot of interest in my Judge topic anyway... LOL...

I hear you Greg, probably right. If I could just stop shoveling snow for one day for some garage time, it would help

Default Fired Up the Judge

Finally fired up the Judge yesterday during another blizzard. Runs excellent and sounds wicked awesome. Moves very nice the 3 to 4 feet I have in the garage. Been saving up local vintage drag strip stickers from around the area the car was sold new (Ft. Wayne, IN), put a few on the rear glass. For those that have posted help and encouragement, thank you for your interest.

Default Roundport idle setting??

What do you guys with round port heads and manual trans have your curb idle set at? I have mine at 1050 RPM per the manuals, but it seems like its high and could be lowered.

Nice vid, sounds awesome but it still seems lower than mine. That's an auto right Mike? I'm thinking 850 to 900 is where I need to be. Wanted to see if there were any issues going to a lower RPM with dieseling, brake vacuum, etc.

That would be with the idle solenoid activated. If unplugged, 650.

Saw that in the manual too, key off 650RPM to prevent run-on.

So, it sold new at Means? I didn't realize that before. Car looks beautiful by the way! You have done an awesome job on it! I would like to find some old Avilla Dragway stickers myself. I have probably gone through a few of them back when I used to race there and never thought about it turning into a shopping center some day!

Thank you RUFF, I appreciate that. Actually sold new at Davis Auto, don't know a lot about them other than the location.

Default Davis Auto Company, INC.

I'd love to get a pic of this dealership. Did the internet search and didn't find any pics of the dealer. If anyone has a vintage pic of this place, please post it on here. Davis Auto Company, Inc. Zone 07, Dealer 167. 312 S Main St, Ft. Wayne, IN. Thank you!

I forgot about Davis. (I was three when your car sold new.) I am fairly sure that was on the corner of Main and Clinton? Means was also on Main but further west. My Uncle bought his 67 Gto new at Means I am pretty sure... I think where Davis was is now a parking lot. I am going to talk to my Dad tonight or tomorrow night and find out some of the particulars. Seems like my Dad ordered his new 68 442 from Davis. I have a bunch of my Uncles old pic's and my Dad has a bunch of pic's from back then, I'll see if we would happen to have a picture of Davis in some of them....
