Can you tell us what's different between the two decals or post up pictures? Here a page that has a goo run down of all the second gen decals. https://www.hitmantransam.com/Pages/decals.htm
Yes, that is my understanding as well. The yellow parts of the decal on my car ( original ) are outlined in yellow. On the repop decal it is solid yellow. Will post pics. thanks

I hope these pics can be seen well. I can send larger images through email direct. [email protected]

The repop decal has the yellow as a solid. My car has the yellow as an outline.
Can anyone confirm this?
Does anyone also have an original hood decal on a Y88 to share and show detail?

am not sure what to do. I do not have a lot of option it seems but, was hoping this decal was correct for the application. It seems I have a 79-81 TA decal and not a 78 Y88

anyone know?

This is a zoomed in picture of my original 78. Not sure if this shows enough detail though? Unfortunately I don't keep the car stored at home or I would take a fresh pic for you. might be able to do that soon though.

Is there a registry for the Y88's to show how many may be left that are actually alive?

We need a y88 forum here. Everything is mixed into a board.
Found 7 yds of GM Lombardy, looking for someone to make me new covers
Also, I recently found a book at a swap that has alot of y88 info and pics in.

Never heard of or seen a "Y88" camaro... not that that means much, maybe they are out there but nothing shows up searching the web for them & some sources actually state that Y88 was not available for camaros, it was only a Pontiac TA option. Got any links to a real Y88 camaro? There were obviously gold color camaros like the pic above but doesnt show the T tops. Anyone got a link or pic or source to show a camaro with gold T tops?

"(Y88) available for the Pontiac Trans Am. This package, known as the Special Gold Edition, included a Solar Gold exterior color, gold-colored grille and hood bird, and gold-colored wheels. It was not offered on the Chevrolet Camaro.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Y88 Package: This was a special appearance package for the 1978 Pontiac Trans Am, giving it a distinctive gold theme.
Gold Exterior: The Y88 package included a Solar Gold exterior paint color.
Gold Accents: The package also featured a gold-colored Trans Am hood bird decal, gold-colored grille, and gold-colored wheels (typically snowflake-style).
Not a Camaro Option: The Y88 package was exclusive to the Pontiac Trans Am and was not available on the Chevrolet Camaro.
W72 Engine Option: The Y88 package could be paired with the W72 Pontiac 400 engine, a performance option for the Trans Am.
T-Tops: Many Y88 Trans Ams also came with T-Tops. "

Scored a big roll of GM Lombardy for mine, maybe. Re poop stuff looks terrible. Should have enough for a couple of pillows too, lol

Ans a GM Package tray, not the vinyl, guys that use the rattle car crap makes it look all one dipped color.

Key word, y88 version.

I was also lucky enough to find enough original material & just enough to do one set of seats & had them made nearly 20 years ago. They are still in bags and boxed up in my basement. I hope they fit when I get to it. Don't want to rush into anything.

I dont think the repop material looks terrible by any means, Better than worn out originals, but its for sure is easy to spot. Has a velour or suede looking texture to it.
