And doing this with pump gas while not overheating in traffic, hard to beat a well built Pontiac! Plus we actually work harder on our stuff to squeeze more performance and reliability than your average Chebby guy.

TA Man could go to 3.42 gears and a little more stall like 3500-3800. Of course that means more traction would be needed. You're never done in racing and that's a good thing.

Yes that's a given with traction more stall and gear would get it there..I'm enjoying the tuning process too much ....trying to get as much out of the basic combo as I can.

Why mess with a perfect street performance combo?
A 400 stroker with a 3-speed auto, doesn't get much simpler than that. Runs 11.20s with 3.08 gears. Great out on the highway and the track too. Drive it anywhere, anyplace, any time. Not many guys ever achieve this, hopefully more will carefully study this thread and follow suit. This car is perfection.

How much does the rear and passenger seats weigh? And the front sway bar? Bet you would get the 2 tenths that way, that's probably close to 100 lbs.

Nice idea..I still like it looking like a car inside!Would probably take 200lbs for 2 tenths....I've thought about the swaybar and may try it again...the old car I took it off for a bit..I like how it handles and leaves flat with it on..but weight is weight..and it may help the launch a bit...I know if I'm knocking on 10.99 the seats will come out!

Fyi, there are guys running well into the 10's with 3.42 gear, most likely would still run tens with 3.08.

Its Experimental Territory if he would like to purse 10's N/A with 3.08's.
3.23 , 3.42, 3,64( Old Buick GSX Gearset & Pontiac Fullsize 9.3 only), 3.73 & 3.90 would net easier results I think. 3.23& 3.42 fully streetable. |

I did back to back on my TA just with the sway bar unhooked not off and no difference in hooking and sure did sway making the turn around at the end of the track.
Front skinny tires made a bigger difference than just the weight loss with them I guess rolling resistance.

I notice we never do Racing math here on Max.
And I like All engine parameter math, calculus, & drive train math. Break it down so all can understand. Coming up next. |

So is that the general/baseline math, 10th of a sec for every 100 lbs?
Thing with gears, cam selection needs to be in line for any gain there. Isn't it something like you want to be a peak HP RPM as you cross the line? .

You want to be at Peak HP At 1320 foot mark. Or at 1000 foot mark and cross 1320 mark 200-400 rpm. Over. Not over rev the engine. Hydraulic Roller cams don't like being over revved. Stuff breaks fast. |

Big torque engines like Pontiacs can cheat some.
But chasing down Tenths with available parts now. Weight reduction can be done also. Becomes less of a street car. More like a gutted Race Car. |
