give me a ring. Should be around most days. If weather permits, we get the cars out and do the first SD run of the year.

You have good taste in roads my friend.
There are a few in the area that may be less crowded for a good run.

to get to your place i could just pop down college hill, hit 22 to 57 and drive in ...but if it's the bird, it's down 611 to 32 to new hope, over to lambertville, up 29 to the back road that leads to kingwood, the back way from there to del val area from the Corner store, a rip around from mt pleasent to rick road to 579 all the way back up and down the mountain over bloomsbury, a jaunt on 173 to charlestown, some backroads there to asbury anderson connection then the back way past the hotel to the top of schooleys ....1st way would be about 45 minutes of boring straightness ...the other way probably 1.5 hours and lots of ))))) You should have seen the roads i found on the way to NJ Steve's --haven't run her that hard since i lived in VT.

ANSWER>> General Kinetics< Founder> Don Tewless. In the words of Former Pontiac Engineer Tom Nell on special Cams for Pontiac starting in 1967 SCCA cam for their 303 race engine , used in a race in 1970. GK was also involved in Chevy cam tryouts, big and small block, and produced hundreds of thousands of cams for GM, six cylinders too
Quote>"Tom Nell: Honestly, Jeff Young gets all the credit because he was the guy who did this program. We were trying to find out what the engine wanted. Jeff worked with a guy named Don Tewless, who was just starting a cam company called General Kinetics, in Detroit. Tewless would make us masters, and Jeff had him make up I don't know how many cams to run a basic test to determine what was the most important factor in valve timing that influenced the engine's power. Was it the lift or the duration, where you opened the valve, where you closed it, whatever? (They were made on a upright Bridgeport grinder, some call them vertical grinders) >>Tom Vaught may know more on this subject..

FWIW,.....Melling was also an OEM supplier for at least some Pontiac camshafts, although perhaps not the SD455 cams specifically.

Which SD cam the first 73 same as the Ram Air IV, or the production 73-74 cam? The price of the first would be higher I think.

With the small gear on it?
I'd say it should be worth something since only the SD distributor would work with it. (or RAV)

Steve, taken in by the Mopar no option wheel look?? hehe, it has that mopar look, you have to admit!!
The "flatter" black on the underside of that car looks very thick..would take alot of work to strip that and all the hardware to make it correct, more underside pics would be good, and the restoration pics... Im surprised, actually, that its not BLUE, that mopar influence was wide and deep ! 73 in Norwood.... ![]() ![]()

Never said it would be an easy couple of weekends :-)
I'm not too good on my time estimation anyway, as you can see by my original estimate of one year on the 72 T/A. Anyone out there in 73 SD land want to trade? |

Both cars are very interesting and would love the opportunity to see either let along both of them. These type of vehicles should be in a location where the public can visit them like a museum. I'd go way out of my way for a visit in a heart beat!
Owning one would be like a show car though, they get NO driving. |
