A lot 'less' spark knock 'this' time? There was spark knock the last time?
Just to say, there is such a thing as 'inaudible det', which can be just as dangerous. Trying to help is all, and good you are happy with it now. .

Yes I'd say with cranking compression of 200+ before with this same cam, and running pump gas, there was most likely spark knock before, he was likely unaware of it. He may like how it drives since a baby cam like this would require no tuning at all for smooth operation but it'll take a while for him to find out that any detonation will come back to bite him if he drives the car enough. |

It’s obvious you are not genuinely trying to help. So then you are trolling. Get a life.

I guess you missed the other 50 pages of everyone trying to help, myself included. But you can only do so much on these computers. Quite frankly when it gets more involved I prefer the car here in front of me as it gets too in depth for most to understand, and this was a perfect example of that. I think you got the best help that could be expected from everyone here given the circumstances. You can lead a horse to water but......

With all due respect many have been trying to help. Many have asked if you pumped the engine! If it pumps over 180 you could have a problem with pump gas.As said audible is not good at all and you could also have in audible detonation which over time can knock the bearings out of the engine.Good luck with your project.Tom

You might not like it, but Formulajones said what needed to be said. Patting you on the head does not help you, it just makes things worse.

Since you have the trans out. What are you going with as far as clutch and pressure plate? My guess would be they were both new with the engine build. So are they now worn out or can they not how the torque the engine is making?

Should be the same now. Would be interesting to see if it did change. Cam grind changed a little. Or timing sets not made exactly the same. Cam out of time it needed octane boost. Voodoo cam made more running compression and needed more octane boost. Should need less now than in all the past years that he's drove it. Clay

We put numbers to settings and tests , data, to compare to known norms , and allow us to duplicate those settings after servicing.
Or if a malfunction occurs, to check if a setting is off from your set point. Ear and eye data is hard to quantify! You were checking/adjusting cam and ignition timing ...without a TDC reference point when this crazy train left the station.. |

Clearly as you said there are a number of reasons that it will not be the same. Stan

Either way the answer was a new clutch. I’m going with a Mccloud 100.
