Since this is the first ever Street Racing reality show, please explain how you became such an expert on the subject. Just wondering. I have other things to do, George, but make sure you get in the last post, as usual.

I know out here, especially the Compton gardena area where street racing is big they do bring pro mods. Izzy who was on an episode of the show is awaiting trial for an accident that killed 3 people. And he was the flagger. So for the small group it may be large but for that group who wants to race as fast as they can go on a street pro mod is the next step forward. Not for me I think it's kinda ugly but more power to him. End of the day we are all race fans all pontiac fans. Pro mod or not street or track I'll watch and root for justin.

With the same HP per pound and limited traction the lighter car has a big advantage in my opinion.

Lighter car will always be better.......takes less HP to go quick also less breakage BUT a more streetable looking car with more HP would be WAY cooler!

But the crazy part is that Pro mods are making it for a full 5 days and 1000+ miles on Dragweek. So what's a street car? With a cooling system, Big Chief could likely cruise the Crowmod nearly anywhere.

I feel if you do not have a tranny tunnel, wipers, and heat/defrosters it's not a street car, its a race car on the street.
Those guys are in a different class than most though.
I am friends with Glen Hunter (red 56 Chevy, twin turbos this year) he drives that thing everywhere, even into Manhattan!! Car ran 7.80 this year, he will be faster next year. He is all over Long Island with it.

I can cruise my car too BUT that don't make it a street car!

S/O are "street raced cars" not street cars. It is just about the racing surface and rules agreed to by the two drivers that are lined up. This is the way its been for money street racing for as long as I can remember (dating back to the early 80s).

No I agree its a no holds bar, I think Big Chief did what he had to do to stay on top.
What I am saying if you are going to classify a car, and its just my .02, a street car is something you can drive to work, the store, anywhere you want, pull into any gas station and keep going.
Lets face it there are a ton of race cars on the street. If you have a bird cage around your head, YOU ARE IN A RACE CAR.
Don't get me wrong, I love seeing that stuff, love watching street racing. Most street racing near me is race cars on the street no matter what b.s. the guys who own the car are saying.
This is where the turbo/supercharged cars have an advantage. low compression pump gas or e85 , real drivable and real fast.

Eric, just for comparison can you tell us the difference in weight between the Grocery Getter (Partial GM steel body and tube frame) resembled a street car same as did The Crow. Compared to the Boss Bird (Purpose built race car with a glass body and most likely not any GM parts on it)?

When Eric and Mike decided to move their program forward to a blown nitro vintage funny car, I don't remember anyone having a problem with their moving up because they wanted to go faster and the Grocery Getter platform was pretty much maxed out.

I would say a good comparison between the Crow Mod and The Crow GTO

Both teams wanted to go faster while remaining loyal to the Stratostreak engine platform. Taking weight off and more power is how this happens.

Same thing happens in oval racing, as the speeds go up and the driver safety is more focused on, the only choice is a purpose built race cars. Detroit built iron is no longer an option to be used as a platform for a safe, fast, aero, race car. Technology marches on, if your anchored to the past, you get left in the dust.

Pro stock cars in the later 60s early 70s, looked like a stock car. Milling the blocks to save weight. Full titanium suspension parts, all titanium bolts that were drilled in the centers, acid dipped bodies. As many titanium engine parts as could be used, sectioned welded cylinder heads that were not even close to a stock head. Outward appearance looked like a Detroit car, not many of the parts could be bought at your local dealership though.

Many years this has been going on in all forms of motorsports, the casual observer was still thinking the race cars were Detroit based iron, they weren't.

Yeah its was a gto judge to right? My 68 bird weighs 3180 race weight with a IA2 iron block and a 8-71 on it. Steel doors and fenders/ chrome rear bumper. Back half with stock floor up front/firewall and front suspension parts. Cage is mild steel. Factory windshield. Im told by other racers their stock block cars on 1 carb/one piece front ends/glass doors a bumpers/ lexan all over are 3200 plus. I like the show partialy because the people seem like blue collar workers like myself and the cars seem like something that could be home built. My daughter starts racing this year and I cant watch it with her because of the language.
