Once in awhile PHR has a good Pontiac article as in pure Pontiac - like this 1978 T/A 461 Cubes etc. Feb. 2014 issue - http://www.popularhotrodding.com/fea...m/viewall.html
don't really subscribe anymore to any magazines because of there lack of good true blue Pontiac articles - I just pick and choose at the magazine stands

Did you see the '55 on the issue from 2 months ago? One of the staffers has a '64 LeMans daily driver. In fact, I don't think any of the staffers are Chevy folks. Editor - came from a diesel magazine Scherr - Mopar Gillogly - Pontiac Taylor - he's a hot rod designer Are there any other staffers? Frieburger is now above the fray but still oversees the magazine, and he hardly could be considered a Chevy-only guy. |

Funny, I just received my NEW issue of HPP (Hot Rod). Expiration date was one month earlier than HPP's. It must cost more to produce Hot Rod than HPP did. Called and transferred to MCR, losing 3 more months ("price matching"). I wonder when the next wave of magazine cuts will happen.

Just wondering where you got the phone # to call ?
Can't believe they discontinued our magazine, and automatically replaced with Hotrod !! Very poor customer service. |

I got it from the inside page of Hot Rod of the index under subscription services. The subscription services take car of all their titles so one stop does it all. Just look through what magazine you'd rather receive before you call and ask them to switch your owed balance to that magazine.

Just got the new issue of Hot Rod with an explanation that the HPP subscription will be filled with Hot Rod.

For Hot Rod magazine, just go to page 10 (it isn't labeled as such, but there is a page 12) and under SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES is an 800 number to call. Tell them your concerns and what recourse they can provide. A pro-rated refund may be one option, but there may be handling fees too making the switch to a different magazine a "better deal".

Don't know about a next wave, but I'm anticipating a sharp increase in pricing on what's left now. And when the pricing goes up, I'm going to start being more selective on what I keep. Won't be renewing more than 6 months in advance, after this debacle.

Don Keefe wrote for MCR as did Paul Z at one time I believe.

Can anybody tell me why I might like MCR better than Car Craft (the mag they substituted in my case)?

Sold, I just called and made the switch to MCR.
The lady explained that my subscription had been shortened by 1 month for the Car Craft because the last HPP was Oct and the 1st Car Craft was Oct also, so now my expiration is Aug 2017. She also tells me a 2nd issue of Car Craft is already "in the mail" to me, so that reduces the no. of remaining issues of MCR I will get. Hopefully MCR will be a good trade for me. Thanks for the help here. |

MCR is along the same lines as Hemmings but I think they will be complimentary rather than duplications.
Although I enjoyed HPP, I don't mind reading about other makes.
