When I dynoed my 78's pump gas 455 we swapped my welded and heavily massaged by me Torker II for Steve Coombs SD modified Holley intake and it was identical with the 850 Holley. For now the 78 still has the 4.10s form the 400 in it years ago. 3.42s to go back in this year. It also still has the 1.8 ratio Crowers on the intakes.

"New" 455 that is going in the 81 with it's 3.08s 0.060 455 I bought with some ported 6Xs. I had some extra E heads I'd bought here and after flowing both the E heads barely touched outflowed then and were way easier to hoist on the flow bench! Sent them to Dave to just go 310 but previous person raised the port a little too much -although little else done so Dave wanted to use the 320 program. Had him do an EFI Torker II also-although it needed a little weld added as did my old extra T2 non EFI(which flows a hair better than Dave's. Dish Ross with a custom CH as block had been decked a hair too much from a head gasket failure.SCAT rods Pontiac crank. Stump puller I picked up form a member here in Houston stepping up to OF. Canton GTO pan that is a hair deeper I had sump extended to match F body pan-even with front crossmember. Headers wil be chosen after dynoed-Have some Tribal Tubes Tri Ys, Hedman step 1 3/4-1 7/8 and Hooker 2".Shaker 455 tuned HP 1000(built from extra Holley parts. kind of an extra parts motor and since the kids are gonetheir high school car) and only a little 400 in it I want a little more go power-has new Global West parts on it also.

That's good news. I'd like to use the HSD as it's stock height/carb location will be critical with my Formula hood & aircleaner. I might be able to get away with using one of those 1/4" carb gaskets, or maybe a custom 3/8" spacer.

I would not mind giving someone a good on Porting their HSD or Really any Intake to test with.
Ernie I'm super excited to see what tires do, i do wish you would test the tires then next time test the carb, but i understand how much time it takes!
Good luck! Let me know how it goes!

I'm hoping the tires will hook better with less burnout...its one of those track outings where I can evaluate both...I should have measured the circumference of the old tires vs the new ones...The Pros are slightly taller..so the effective rear end ratio is lower again.....The new carb should show more mph if more cfm is needed..I tried a larger 1000hp vs the 950hp...and it did not gain at the track...but that was before the intake work and dropping the tailpipes...I'm not expecting much gain..the timeslips will tell....Andy and Chris will both lower ets easily!

As Derek knows I've only been shifting at 5500 rpm...I've had a 5700 limiter chip in my MSD for a couple years now.Since my tach is off a bit I've installed a shiftlight...so I will experiment with higher shiftpoints ...I'm also taking my 950hp mainbody..for a swap if I have time...The car may seem dialed in to some...but many little cost effective changes are being made this year..The last modification of removing the tailpipes..was great..I dropped .1 and added 1mph for free!

Ran 7 times..the last 2 a spinfest both in the 11.50's with 1.9 60fts...First 2 with the 1050 Annular Main Body..11.3424/120.84mph 1.6705 60ft,11.3611/120.19 1.6632 60ft....I decided to swap the 950hp mainbody back on ..next three runs...11.2592/121.2mph 1.6647 60ft,11.2527/121.91mph 1.6709 60ft,11.2589/122.15mph 1.6686 60ft..The 950hp carb works well...I'm not giving up on the 1050 mainbody..it needs tuning..a set of tunable metering blocks and a AFR gauge will help immensely..

My Opinion on the 1050 Main body, is its too much, and your loosing velocity with it, it could work with more fuel possibly, but then your over fueling the engine for what it wants, I would stick with the 950 HP...

I agree...my carb, spacer, intake and heads are all about velocity...I'm glad I took my 950hp mainbody with me..it was about a half an hour swap on a picnic table..

Yep We were there ....

First time for me running with any type of drag radial ever...
Best time 13.07, 60 ft 2.01, all @107.79..and I was spinning .....
I need to work on my burn out technique

I also need to get rid of the air shocks in the azz end as there is no give in the rear so not sure if that would help.....they will be off in a few weeks and hopefully we will be back in Aug.....hopefully I can borrow Andy tires again.....

I actually ran a 13.06 @108 on street tires peddling the car.........figure that one out.....

Ernie and Andys cars are ridiculous.....in a good way
