Default dash review with photos

let me first caveat with this is the first time i have dealt with a re manufacture of parts so my expectations for customer service might be different from many of you, in my other hobbies hand made anything is known for HORRIBLE Service.

I ordered the dash before thanksgiving and because i had to travel asked the vendor to hold this until at least the 5th of december. There was a bit of a lag getting an email response from him... More than a week which concerned me a bit because of paypal dispute policies but with the holiday involved understandable. When he did answer he told me

"Sorry was out of town.Had to fix minor problem on molds, should ship out next two days. Thanks! "

that was december 9th. On december 12th i got tracking info

The package was delivered today (fed ex)with signature required to ensure inspection.

The dash was delivered in plastic bubble wrapped and shipped in cardboard.

I am happy with this part of the transaction. will keep you posted when i return a core

I have added several photos, that try to capture the overall shape structure and texture if you want more before i start install let me know exactly what you want a photo of. I will include more once i start to assemble the dash.

I have more photos will add later tonight

From what I can tell, it looks nice! When are you going to assemble everything and install it?

I am a dealer for Unique Rides. I have ten 70-72 dash cores ready to ship this week.

They will have their 69 mold ready around the first of the year.

They are also planning on attending the Co-Vention in Dayton next year.

These guys have been doing dashes for a dozen years, just not for our Pontiacs. The process they use is not at all like Just Dashes or Dashboard Restorations, they do not pad the dash and cover it, they strip it to the metal core and form the new dash around the original steel. Very close to what the factory did.

Anyone want to save some money? Get ahold of me! Rob, you paying attention?

yes... Was going to stop up the other night (Wed) but ended up watching Carole go play indoor soccer and tear her knee up.

That looks really nice. the edges look like they should....I'd like to see a better pic of the top...just above the instrument pod. The just dashes are more rounded there and not crisp edging. This looks good and from what i can tell, the grain looks right too. This is good news.

Thank you Ghartley for posting up these pics. Nice to see a QUALITY reproduction for a change. This is the second quality repro I've seen this year. First was a 455 HO AC bracket made by Barry Martin at Sonic Motors. He is doing other quality repro's too.

Default dash

will get those ( inst cluster top) out tomorrow. it will take me a while to get the dash installed. I started this as a a just paint the damned thing project until i discovered no rust and matching numbers.

at the moment the car is on an A frame stripped to bare metal... rust bullet coated then lizard skinned then undercoated before bolting it back on. I am no car restorer and this willl be a mod with all of the original parts stored in a sea container in the VERY unlikeley event i dump the car at some point.

tHIS WILL BE THE CAR I DRIVE EVERY DAY.

Default dash

If your willing to just do an exchange of dash pads,?They will charge you a core charge for $195 I believe??and will refund you that money when your dash arrives!Thats if they have one in stock ready to mail out to you as soon as you make your cc payment! If you send your out to be redone,"Like I did"they don't charge you any core charge

Does anybody have a good close up photo of the dash that shows the correct color for a 70 GTO with sandalwood interior?

Default dash

I'm getting a little anoyed with them. They said they'll call me when my dash that I shipped gets to them.Never did, I had to call them to confirm they got it.They put me on hold and she opened it up while I was on the phone.Which means it sat there for three days with out them opening it.She already had my money because I gave them my card info. When she opened it up she said I'll refund you your $195 core charge now that we recieved the core.Just got my cc bill in today with no refund on the core, but the $980 is on there with no dash or tracking number yet.She said she was mailing it last Monday and she would call me with the shipping info on that day, because I need to sign for it when it shows!Never heard from her.I'm sure they get around to it,but poor communication so far!I'll keep you posted when I know more!
