LG, your friend is all wet. Yes, you need to get it hooked up, but those 3.73's are totally wrong for such a mild 455.

Understood, but your friend is comparing apples with oranges. What works in a lightweight race car with a high revving engine doesn't always work in a heavy street car with a lower revving engine.

L-Guy. You should definitly run better than you are. I run a 60 Ventura(4,300#) with a 400 motor and trans/3k converter with 3.64 gears and have ran 13.98/98.5mph with consistant 2.0 60' times.I use a 27.3" MT slick. I would imagine your car is lighter. I would start with the traction problem and try timing variations and check out fuel situation as others have suggested. I am no expert but if you are building for torque with a faily light car don't smoke it on the launch. Keep the gears reasonable. Good Luck. NO offense to your friend but you don't have a Chebby

Well like i said i got the stickies on there now but they are only 26X10.50X15 so they 26" tall, found a set of 28X10.50X15's but dont think they will fit in my fender wells
im gona give it a run on Friday and see what the end result is. gona start the timing at 28 degrees total and work my way up from there. I know its not a fuel problem got a Brand new Holley Electric pump with guage and its putting out 7lbs on the money, and the volume is good. ill post tomorow night and let yall know what the times are...hope they alot better than before. i figure if it goes in the low to mid 13s then with a gear swap i should get into the 12s or at least i hope Mike |
