I believe your correct The bezels were all chrome and then painted. Even my 64 bezel is done this way.

Just looked at the 2 63's I have. The cars have the same condition dash. It looks to me like it was a type of chrome that was sprayed on. Doesn't really look like paint, but what else can it be? Did Pontiac have a spray chrome material for dashes?

The "chroming" process used on these bezels is actually aluminum that is sprayed on in a technique similar to powder coating.
I'm just saying that the ribbed part is also "chromed" not just the top of the rings. Why would they chrome the bezel and then paint silver over the chrome? I am 99.999% that I am correct on this detail.

2nd runner ames has your v8 motor mounts tell them that you need them for a 63 grand prix the price is $50.00 pr and the 4cld Kanter has them for $48.00+ shipping good luck!
