Ken at East West said the 66 Vair 4 speed will bolt to the tempest diff BUT you will need to make somekind of adapter to hook the TQ tube to the trans and you will need the 63 stick shift TQ tube.You might call him as he knows a lot about the 61-63 transaxles.Tom

If you are looking for automatic to withstand some HP. Find someone in dune buggy's who still builds powerglides for hill climbs. There are some fairly hot buggies (500 hp V8 with vair powerglide transaxler) running at Glamis dunes. Last time I was there we were runing a alky injected Buick 215 V8 ( realy a 350 with rover 4.6 crank). 1100 lb. dune buggy. Talk about G force take offs. It ran a vair transaxler and never had any problems with it. Jay

I have used this place for corvair parts at the shop i work at and they have some very interesting things for the corvair transaxles. check out this link to see their saginaw 4spd tocorvair diff kit. they also have differential upgrades also. Not sure if this can help us ropeshaft folks but i thought i would throw it out there.
