Les, How many bushings did you use on each screw....2 in front...3 in the rear?
I mocked it up with a couple of old shock bushings, Does it hold the shifter tight, so no play in left to right?.....I was wondering if I needed something " firmer " Also, I see you used the B&M cover plate, I was playing with using the stock plate, but I can't figure out a way to fasten the stock plate to the new shifter. Maybe the new plate, when fastened to the shifter itself will help hold it firm.

Rug,
I used a stack of washers under each shifter "foot" to locate the shifter in the console and @ the correct heigth, and then I cut the "spacers" to fit the tunnel contours. The QS cover plate will not increase the shifter's stability as the hole for the "boot" is too large. Even if there is a little movement in the shifter it will work fine as the shift cable is firmly attached to the shifter frame. Les
