So what does your calculator say if a motor makes 976 hp and weighs 3250?

Aint no way in hell a 1000hp N/A car is going to pick up 36 on the back half weighing 3250. 29-31 is average. My pass was 1.22 60', 5.46 at 125 at the 1/8 and 8.61 in the 1/4. The car went thru the lights at 8800rpm.

These Calculators just bring it out in the open how much our air sucks here. To correct a 650 HP motor in the West Texas summer plan on subtracting 109 HP

What's 36? MPH?
My dragster is the opposite of what you and the other high HP guys run. I usually have a great ET but a poor MPH. I usually run 8.20's in 1/4 with only 153 mph. These equations aren't accurate but they usually get you in the ballpark. If you want accuracy, I would try PipeMax from maxracesoftware.com But for free . . .

My Results from Wallace Calculator
482 cubic inch in Firebird
Your HP is 725.84 computed from your vehicle weight of 3060 pounds and ET of 9.41 seconds. Your Horsepower computed from your vehicle weight of 3060 pounds and MPH of 143.5 is 743.18. 474 cubic inch in Firebird Your Horsepower computed from your vehicle weight of 3060 pounds and MPH of 141 is 705.01. Your HP is 705.40 computed from your vehicle weight of 3060 pounds and ET of 9.50 seconds. 500+ cubic inch in Firebird Your ET / MPH computed from your vehicle weight of 3000 pounds and HP of 800 is 9.05 seconds and MPH of 148.05 MPH. This calculator is pretty darn close. My new engine combo for 2007 will be a 500+ cubic inch that should make about 75-100 more hp than my 482.If this calculator is right,I will be one happy camper

So what causes the difference in horsepower ratings between ET & MPH formulas ? Which one is accurate or do you average the two?

John,you know I've gotten blasted by some here as making excuses when I mention "conservative dyno numbers" that match the Moroso slide.

old goat racer, the MPH equation is probably more accurate.
ET can be affected by many things. But the MPH is usually the same if it's ran all the way through. For an excellent ET calculator, try ET Analyst It uses more inputs and is relativily cheap.

Thanks John. Using the MPH I come up with 455HP, & using the ET I have 473 HP. That will give me a number to throw at racers.
