The classes we run prevent us from being able to use a 4-link. A 4 link does have several advantages over ladder bars, you can compensate for a bad or really good track as well as hooking with out having to carry the front end as much. That said one of our cars 60s in the 1.17 range with the back tires on a 29.5 10.5 slick with ladder bars. Wheelie bar adjustments and wheel speed become very critical on this car. FWIW

In my opinion, unless you're looking to get into the 9's or faster, leave the stock suspension in it. If not, go with a 4 link.

I heard about that from a friend that some classes don't allow them.
I never want wheelie bars, so maybe a 4link would be better since I can control wheelies with a 4 link. I know that John Langer has a ladder bar car and his doesn't wheelie much. I'll never make power like that. Is there a way to fine tune a ladder bar car so you don't pull the front up as much?

Yep.

But you have to be able to move weight around the car and adjust the front suspension.

Before back halving it have you looked at the Slider Link bars? Once you hack the back, and tub it, you'll probably have to narrow the rear seat.
If anything you could go with a mini-tub, deeper offset wheels, slider links and keep the back half as is.
Just a thought.

I've had Slappers, ladders and 4 links with wishbone on various cars. And now slider links on my 68 Bird. Haven't tested the sliders yet but they seem to offer adjustability and preload without sacrificing ride quality.
4 link was the best on the strip. Ladders worked well on the street and strip but the ride was harsh.

I've seen bent ones. Haven't seen any bent caltracs though. I miss the caltracs I had. I'm leaning towards the 4link for the adjustability, but I like ladder bars because you can set them and leave them. I don't wanna spend all day tuning a 4 link. If the backseat thing won't work then I will do the 4link. I might be selling my seats, 2 buckets and the rear seat. Does anyone need brand new black seats?

Do you know if the rear seat fits the ventura's? Is it the same material? I assume the fronts fold ahead for rear seat access. Pretty comfy? Might be what i am looking for.

Yep, same material. The vinyl isn't the correct factory vinyl.
The seats were done by a local upholstry guy
that does most of the hotrods in my town. He's been doing it for
30+ years. I did my homework on all the shops in town and he was
the best. yes the fronts fold and move foward. Comfy, yes, all new foam.
I don't know if the rear will fit in your car. Good question.
