The lower the gearset, the more chance of noise. I suspect a blind guy could throw a set of 2.56's together and they'd be quiet. By the time you get to 4.56's, setup becomes very critical to keep things quiet. I've always had the best luck with OEM gear sets; but if the ratio is only available in aftermarket, then there's no choice. I'm wondering if standard aftermarket gear sets aren't like white-box lifters, there's one poor guy in China cranking all of them out. If it's for a low performance street car, I just go for the lowest price available, and have had just as good of luck as paying double for a name brand. If it is for drag racing, I'll pay the money for Richmond Pro Gears.

I'm just gonna pony up for the OEM 4.10s and do it myself......I have most of the tools to do it anyways....

Ol' Clifford says the ratio is a bit too much for an ideal 1/4 mile run, but for the few times I'll get to the dragstrip during a season, it'll be worth it to have quiet gears the rest of the time......

So I go through the traps at 6100 instead of 5700.. (or whatever....he did the math for me)....no big deal...

Thanks for the responses.
