Its WAY Overkill. Once I was at a old junkyard and needed a windshield frame for a 65 Corvette. The guy looped the seal belts together and lifted the whole car with a forklift out of the line of cars it was in across a field to an open spot. Those belts were 35 years old, sun beaten and still held up the body and frame.

Would be nice. But was already discussed and was considered but made clear won't happen this year. Sucks but that's what was said

I believe that an OEM is quite different than a racing harness. I agree that the two-year recert is quite short, particularly for a race car as most don't see to much sun shine.

On the street, it's a little different. I think my harnesses last about 4-5 years before they start to fray. A factory belt, which is more like nylon, seems to be impervious to UV exposure. My RJS harness is like cloth type feeling.

Hope I didn't tell you something you already know.

Passing on signing - not really involved in racing enough. Sorry.

Also I should mention that I strapped in my RJS harness probably some 2400 times in a street car over 4-years. That's not gonna help with fraying.

Clearly, the rules should always allow a tech to fail any belt--regardless of age--with visible signs of wear.
