Personally I’m getting tired of people losing their careers over one bad decision. Punishment doesn’t fit the crime.

This is coming from someone that almost got fired for singing along to a rap song. Hey- I grew up on Biggy and MasterP too!!!

Default Here's one...

This guy posted this car earlier for 99,000.00. Super rare '77 Chevelle SE. Now he wants you to lend him 20,000.00 so that he can fix it up. It's guaranteed, in his mind, because after it's fixed up, maybe he feels that it will be worth 200,000.00.

They should have a convention where all of these wackos get together and talk about their rare and highly valuable cars. We could have the guy with the '70 Firebird WT5, that guy with the prototype Firebird (or Camaro, I can't remember) and any other person that has decided on their own that they have some super rare and valuable "one of one" car.

Not sure what the big deal is. There are occasional issues with almost all new cars. I would think that they would be more prevalent in higher performance, hand built cars. Warranty will cover it- if not for the poorly thought out decision of this tech to post the video, no one but the guys involved would have ever even known.

Could grossly devalue the car as most likely, Ford will replace the engine, not repair it.

Yeah, I don't get it. They put these vids out there for all to see, and then get upset when the consequences arise. He put it on Facebook, did he not know others would see it? Sounds like more I R A Dumb Ace to me.

It just might have been his first encounter with the real world.

A competing dealership, with a brain, should see past the mistake and snap this guy up. Experienced techs are tough to find and keep.

This guy was a service writer? Hardly what I would consider a "career". That is unless you have a very low esteem of yourself. Service writers and parts pushers are one notch above lot boy. Nothing to get all boo hoo about. I'm sure he'll get another job at some other dealership or perhaps a WalMart auto service center.

Then again I dont get why facebook even exists? Honestly I dont really care what people are eating for dinner, where they spent their vacation or if their kids graduated.

nope;

He shared a video of a brand new GT500 slightly making fun of the fact that a brand new zero mile car was in the service bay with an obvious knock;
He apparently initially posted this on facebook, but someone scooped it, and put it on youtube;
apparently said youtube video was seen by someone at the dealership and then he was let go.
He was mad (it was quoted here) at the guy who "stole" his video and put it on youtube - but he fully accepted shortsightedness at sharing the video to start off.

It's kinda like the guy who posted a video of a brand new super low mile 2011 chevy cruze which had the steering wheel fall off... now that was a SUPER funny scenario!

If the customer made and posted the video, they going to fire a customer? I'm on the private ford tech facebook page and saw it the other day when it was posted. No vin was shown so don't understand the big deal really, because the customer saw it also ? He must have known it was his from the dealer posting it. . This guy shouldn't have any problems finding work at another dealer.

I have never, ever, in my life, seen any product where every single example ever manufactured was perfect.

There could be 1000 videos of tire smoking burnouts by beautiful performing cars .... no one cares ... if there is one video of a car with a problem ... it's obviously junk, from a junk manufacturer and everything they ever made, or will make for the rest of eternity is junk .... that's the typical response in the world of the interwebs. It's a dog eat dog world out here

I'd bet the catastrophic failure rates for 60's Pontiacs was WAY higher than modern cars.

Obviously you never heard about the parking lot/driveway between the 2 Pontiac plants deemed "the dragstrip". It is also the reason why date codes and matching numbers don't matter.

The guy who got fired signed a media agreement , so its his fault for doing that. It was the customer that threw a big fit over it.

Agree, but I think it fell shy of fully accepted. Grudgingly accepted, or
conceded? Still, it sounds like he's learned his lesson. If he's even halfway
a decent tech he should have already landed another gig (hopefully at
a much nicer dealership).

People forget it's the World Wide Web. In hindsight, he really should've
showed his friends that video in person (and rotated his phone 90°)

To me, this is the most egregious blunder of the whole incident.

C'mon people, just say NO to vertical video!!!

Wow, that would be several checkpoints that it would have had to go through, and then they were driven out from assembly...
wow, just wow.
I was recieving And Set up on cars at my Pontiac Dealer. I signed off on the bill of lading, which looked just like a build sheet, in triplicate. All cars condition and parts, wheel covers, etc, had to be there to sign for the delivery. If it ran like crap, it did not matter. During set up you could put in a warranty claim. I know this, the special models like pace cars were a low quality build on most cars. By ' 79 there were as many or more birds coming off the line as Camaros. One a minute basically. Lots of ordered cars came late due to the unfinished car lot being so busy with problems. Many people think things are all cut and dry. We had to lock up floor mats, pull off wheels with full size tires, owner's manuals, wheel covers, etc due to SALES . This started because new cars came through missing owner's manuals, decals, mats, etc. Replacement paperwork was a Long time coming. Lots of interesting memories ..

The car in question had a piece of cam chain hitting the cover I was told by a Ford tech. This is not a big deal if fixed before it causes damage. Car was not missing.
