"Snake oil" or not. I use it for dry starts, I like the way it makes the oil stick to metal. You can feel it when you take a engine apart.
Its in everything I drive and has been for many years,
It was in my 455 that made more passes down the track than just about any other one I know of. I mean, when I took my distributor out of the 455 the BOP gear looked new. And that was after 12 years of beating on that engine.
And since I have never blown up a engine, much less spun a rod bearing or blown a head gasket I am going to say it does not hurt your engine.
I have some Lucas 10-30 race oil to put in the engine after its done breaking it. It will get the stabilizer as well as Prolong just like I have always done.
If its not broke, do not fix it. My 3000,000 mile Honda gets it too.
I also have 12 quarts of Shaffers 10-30. If I use it it will not get the Lucas Stabilizer. That oil comes with its own additive package that it sticky in its own right. Has molly in it too. You can buy it by itself but Shaffers does not recommend it for use in their own oil. Told me you can have too much molly in the oil if you do.
I am just happy after all this time and effort putting this stroker together, no leaks ! Sounds good, no rattles even with .006 piston to wall. Can not hear any excess lifter lash after original setting and the oil filter was clean.
So far, so good. Guy who runs our track told me he will open it up just so I can go out and make some runs. Maybe I will take a few buddys with me.
Can not pass up a free test and tune !

So my V pump has been working fine, until today. I started to get some mist coming out the breather and spraying down the right side of the engine. Not much in the reservoir at all.
I turned the regulator down to about 10 in too.
Kind of frustrating. Any ideas ?

I'm not sure what the moroso units swipers look like, but if they use a consumable neoprene or rubber type blade on the swiper it could need replaced or the vanes could be stuck like mentioned in a previous post. Has the car been sitting for a while?

Car has not been sitting a long time. new to these pumps but the engine has no problems building vacuum so I doubt the wipers are having issues.
Some guys at the track have raised their breathers because of this issue. But why all of a sudden do I have this issue ?

Sorry, I mis-understood. I thought you were saying it wasn't making vacuum.
Is it pulling a lot of oil into the catch can?
Check the vacuum again, if there is a vacuum leak ( gasket failure ) it may cause excessive oil to be pulled through the pump.

It was just me and being new to these things. When it first started happening I put a cup under the reservoir and opened the valve 4-5 turns. Only a little oil came out.
Today I opened it until it stopped, THEN a bunch of oil came out.
Now I have one side of my clean, clean engine not so clean !
But the worst thing that happened this weekend was I tried my 1050.
Tried is the key word. I could not get it to idle down, idle fluctuated big time. Seemed like a vacuum leak. looked around, checked bolts, gaskets ect.
Pulled it off and put my old 850 on and she ran fine.
Turns out the "custom" 4 hole spacer I bought with my 4500 Victor was made out of 1 1/4" marine plywood. My first wood spacer and my last. It had a little hole in it, missing section of plywood. And I paid a healthy sum for this spacer because it was matched to my intake so I wanted it.
So, do I try and seal this thing up ? Hole is pretty small. I could use it as a template to copy one out of aluminum or molly plastic. I have some Belzona and I know it stands up to gasoline. Never used it on wood but I know it sticks to fiberglass. It would work but smearing it on the outside might be ugly, but should work.
