Well, now that spring is trying to come to Indiana I was able to wash the car and get some new photos of the updates from this winter. Added some 15x7 & 8 Slots, the D98 stripe and hood pins like a GT-37 so I thought I’d share.
Thanks to all that provided information on tire size and hood pin installation.

Poncho Joe;
Your car looks great. Did you install the stripes or have someone else do it? Quote:

SD, I will post other pictures asap, I still talk with the original owner, I grew up in a small town where the Hopper Brothers (original owners of this car and my 64) dominated the race scene, neither car ever in the rain, just quarter miles.

MAGIMAN - That is truly an amazing history and to be fortunate to grow up close to the original owners and then be able to buy the car from them...with racing history. It's as equally amazing that it has it's original drivetrain with the race life it led. Any pics from when it was a race car back in the day?
Wow, plus you have their '64 GTO that was campaigned on the drag strip as well...I'm so jealous! Dennis |

I did do the stripes myself, it really wasn’t that hard and I didn’t even use the spray that is recommended. Just laid them out with the body lines, used the straight side of the the masking tape to make guides for the height for each section and started installing.

Thanks Dennis. I’ve been looking for a 70.5 GT for many years so I thought I’d make one, my way. I also refreshed the dash added gauges and wheel this winter too.

ponchjoe, your car is truly a motivator for me, it looks fantastic!
The hood gaps look pretty amazing. Is that a repro or original hood? Thank you for sharing, I'll save those pics! |

Those are impressive numbers, nothing other than tuning and slicks? Shows how soft Motor Trend numbers were back in the day! Very cool to have real world, first hand numbers. .

It is a repro hood but I can’t take credit except for putting it back on in the same place as the PO that did the paint and bodywork after engine rebuild.

Ponchjoe, Here are some other #'s of a RA IV that I ran in my 64 GTO, it was very hard to keep the car in the 12's, as that was the rule at E town without roll bar and proper seat belts, this car ran B Stock since day two, 389 tripower (as it is today)
1970 Block 20 over Crower Rods Crower Nunzi grind RA IV CAM Holley HP950 614 Heads mild massage 4:56 gears M 21 Best Time 11:66 119.7 and still pulling Oh I forgot launch is at 5800 and of course slicks |
