x2. I spent the time reading thru all the pages awhile back and that thing is scary!! From everything I've read and the photo's posted, none of this looks or sounds remotely like something BES would initially do in any of their builds, now what happens to it after it leaves their shop can be another story! They are local to me and I've never heard anything negative on the quality of their work and They've been around for a long time in this area. I know who I'd be pitchin a fit with on all of this.
Sad deal.

This engine was shipped directly from BES.

Have you talked directly with them over this? I'm just stunned to believe that they are totally behind the build of your motor and some of the hack work pictured in your post.

If BES is going to affiliate themselves with other engine builders...they should check the work that has their name on it.

Yes that is a head bolt you can see through the opening in the intake port.

Run it.......i would be more concerned about the log in the middle of the port rather than cutting thru a small amount at the head bolt.

Not to discredit...but why is the area around the head bolt darkened compared to the rest of the port wall that was hit with the common sand roll?

Discredit who? I’m not sure why it looks like that either. Below are additional shots of some of the other ports.

Maybe you should post a few of those pictures on yellowbullet...guaranteed BES or someone who works for them or knows them follows the bullet.

I would like to their response on the main cap pictures.

well everyone else seems to think this is ok and maybe they've had good luck with this but in my experience it has been an issue./

on a set of wenzler heads i had there was one stud that was open into the intake port. i ran it that way for a while and it was fine, but after time oil worked its way into the hole and when i would get on it it would suck that oil into the port and smoke like crazy. i took the head off and had a sleeve put in the hole and the smoking stopped. mine was a bigger opening than your pic shows but i thought it was worth mentioning

I really hope this all works out for you. You deserve a break, this gets worse everytime you post.

Are you certain that the engine wasn't delivered as is to BES and they just dynoed and tuned it?

Yes, I'm sure.

On a positive note, it can’t get much worse as there is not much left to take a part. Knock on wood…

Can you just chorme plate them? I always heard making something shining makes it fast?

Sorry to see more of your engine parts was treated the same way. But the bare block I received had the same hammer marks on it. I purchased mine "unused" from someone on the board. Maybe they let each other use the same tool..... or a tool was using the wrong tool.

Hopefully a quick check says it ok?

Have you heard back from BES or are they not responding to you because Lynn was their client on this engine and not you? Did you pay BES directly or through Lynn? Did you work with them directly or through Lynn?

Nothing back yet, I wouldn’t expect a response until at least Monday. BES was paid via Lynn. I talked to Tony a few times early on and then after the engine was delivered regarding some of issues with the heads and valve train. I worked mainly through Lynn.

That was a BFH to make that kind of dent in the caps. Whatever happened to using BRASS tools to snug things in place?

Brass hammer is fine. I also use a plastic dead blow hammer with the lead shot inside. Works great. That main cap is fubar'd!!

WOW,
Wt....f happened here !! This is worse than a nightmare on elm street .
I can not understand how this could have gone so bad and have BES name or involvement
This is looking like someone has no clue, but the Bigger problem is they did , WHOEVER was working on that engine did not give one **** about it and in the end has done great damage to their reputation and BES !!

Really sad , sorry man.
Please don't delete this, as this needs answers.

I have been running that exact same head bolt cooling mod since around 2003. If you sleve the bolt hole it would be more of a protrusion then the bolt itself. As far as the numbering of the main caps, I highly doubt that they remachined a thrust bearing cap and that the caps were just numbered incorrectly from the manufacturer.
