Shot this the other night. Beautiful old Chris Craft on Lake Waramaug. Boats were congregating in the middle of the lake for an impromptu concert on a pontoon boat.

Eldorado Fire in Yucaipa, CA taken Saturday night that has grown to 9,000 plus acres at 7% containment this afternoon. Fire started across the upper valley about mid-day when some idiots used a smoke bomb at a gender reveal party at Eldorado Park which is currently nothing but dry weeds and brush. Fire took the afternoon to cross the valley into the hills on fire in the photo, and then made a run back across the valley Sunday endangering the houses in the valley and the hills on the other side.
Our friend called us Sunday afternoon as the fire was heading back towards his house and asked we get his '66 GTO out of danger. My son-in-law and I snuck around barricades and roadblocks and got the car and made it to another club members house where it is now safely stored. The good news is the GTO owners house is safe tonight and probably out of trouble. Our only worry is there are Santa Anna wind conditions forecast for possibly Tuesday and Wednesday and too many hot spots that could spread the fire if the wind kicks up. The second photo is Sunday morning just as the fire was starting back across the valley. A change in wind could have brought it over to our hills, but lucky for us the wind blew southeast and not southwest.

Denton Farm Park, Denton, NC. Annual Threshers 50th Reunion, July 2020.
This is a 5 day event which has a large camping area for campers which attracts people from various states who show their tractors, steam engines, hit & miss engines, and engage in the tractor pulls. They have food vendors, a flea market area, a stage with assorted bands that play during the day, a train that travels the perimeter with an "old west" show, various demonstrations of both steam and horse powered farm equipment, a steam powered machine shop, a building housing a number of live steam powered engines used in industry, historic buildings, and more. My second year here. Last year was really packed and had more equipment on display, but the turnout was still good in spite of the virus. I went 2-days. They had the General Lee from Dukes of Hazard on display and you could walk right up and take a look and get a picture. I enjoyed the demonstration of the stem shovel and steam crane - both fully operational and built about 1910. Just a few of the pics I took, but I got a ton of them. Tractors of all makes and years from lawn tractors to the big farm tractors - steam, gas, kerosene, and diesel. These guys put as much effort into restoring their tractors as we do our cars. I'll be there again next year. |

Denton Farm Park is a really cool place. Privately owned.
Its amazing to me the extent he went in building the place and providing all the camping provisions with electrical hook-ups and all in shaded areas. Bath houses, etc ... It's only used a few times a year that i know of. For a long time it was just for the Threshers They do an Antique Motorcycle event, and Christian Outreach event. |

7 days, 6 nights. A good portion of it off-trail. Alpine Lakes Wilderness area, one of my favorite places on Earth. My old skier knees are rebelling against this kind of thing now, but I'm going to keep doing it 'til I simply can't any more.
