I wonder if Chief sold the BAE in Marty's car to Gas Monkey. Or if the producers bought Marty's car and gave Chief the shell and Richard the engine. It is reality TV after all. Shawn was on YB answering some questions and said he'd give more details after next week's episode. He did not sound happy.

Yes George, it was supposedly run at least a month ago, thing is that there seems to be no knowledge of who won it.

From the little bit I saw on YouTube showed Chief pulling away from the Gas Monkey car. Looking forward to seeing the actual outcome but I think the GTO put it to them big time.

Just saw the episode, and enjoyed it. I was excited that a black primer monster might race again. I liked the old black Crow, and it complements Chief's '70 daily driver. Good times.

Another comment:
Marty had the Stocker 71 GTO. (That was his wife's car) Marty had a Second GTO that was a tilt front end conventional frame front and back half small steel tube car that he ran as a naturally aspirated car. Marty, Jeff Covey and Tom Earhart did the 70 Chassis car which was built from a sheet metal 70 car (marty's uncle found for him in the south west that was rust free basically. That car was a chassis "Door Car" that over time received more and more carbon fiber parts: Front end, Hood, Doors, etc but the rear half of the car remained steel. That car had a "Tin" interior initially. Then when Marty moved to arizona the modded the Covey chassis even more on the front and back half of the car. Center of the car/cage remained except where mods were required for tech reasons. That is what Chief basically bought The steel rear half and the center cage of the car and I was told modded from there. Tom V. ps Marty's Body Guy bought the tilt front end GTO and later He and Marty did a street Twin Turbo deal for that car. DIFFERENT CAR vs the "judge"

Most probably figured this is what Chief bought:

Thanks John, so proved my posts were correct:
Originally "Covey Double Tube frame rail car". Carbon doors and front end. But I believe that car was immedially sent to the chassis shop and lots of mods were made. Chief and Murder Nova have their ideas on what works for THEIR racing. They own the car they can mod it all they want. Tom V.

This show just got a whole lot better for me. Not into Pro-Mods on the street.....I'd rather see another 'Crow" any old day! Amazing that there are TWO Pontiac engines going up against the competition.!

I don't think Farm Truck and Asian have a chance against Aaron, assuming he finishes the car. A BMW with an LS swap is a potent package.

Tom V, the confusion is on my end. A few months ago I either read, or heard in a video, that the 405 was going to step back away from pro mod cars.
That rule change that I heard/read, stated that the 405 list cars were to have a VIN tag, steel roof and quarters, and be back half cars. Now I see the back half portion was either rescinded, or whoever was giving the information I saw/heard was mistaken. The inaccurate information is what I was going on. The inaccurate information saw me looking for a stock front frame on the newest edition of the Crow (Marty Ps old race car). Being under the impression that Chief's new car had no stock front frame, I was confused. In light of the back half rule not being enacted, or was never even considered, I did some more web mining and found out that the 405 list cars from now on, do not have to be back half cars with stock front frame, just VIN tag, and steel roof and quarters, problem solved. Just attribute it to me reading/hearing a statement that was only partially accurate. Hey, all my race cars turned corners, I'm obviously not a dyed in the wool drag racer.

By the way, Mary's Twin Turbo 71 GTO (Pontiac Engine) still uses the Pontiac EFI intake that Marty, Mary, Tom Earhart, and I designed and built many many years ago. Tom V.

The Crow is all put together and they're on the way to CA to race Rawlings car. I believe they said the Crow has upsized turbos, 94mm. Other than that it's still got the "Small Block Pontiac" 482.
The Farmbird is done and the freshened up 455 Pontiac dynoed at 507 on gas, but they're adding 2 stages of N2O on top of that. Mega race is next Mon. |

TWO THINGS YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER:
IT IS A REALITY SHOW AND ANY REALITY SHOW IS TYPICALLY BASED ON SOME TRUTH. A guy who drives a Pro Stock car is not necessarily the best choice for a Pro Mod type vehicle drag race. Tom V.

The front of the double tube frame as well as the cage, and the rear of the cqar (including the ladder bars was shown last night). The double tube frame did not have a typical Pontiac crossmember lay-out like a back half car would so you can't use Butler Mounts or any normal Pontiac engine mount for the car.
Marty used "Elephant Ears" off the heads on the original pontiac deal so agree with Chief on that deal. Tom V.
