So when was the 744 used? I thought that was the d-port ram air manual trans cam and 068 was the auto... Or was that just certain years? Clear as mud, per usual.

As I understand it, in ‘69 the 744 was a GTO only item (I’m not even sure it was for the entire model year). Someone else here will certainly know.

From what I understand (certainly could be wrong), the 744 cam was offered very early in RAIII availability then removed from production RAIII engines (GTO) due to cold weather drivability (?) and valvetrain noise/issues. The cam was gone from production engines well before the Judge was unveiled in Jan. '69. Remember, this was the early Ram Air cam in late 66, 67, & 68 (before the RAII) along with mandatory 3.90 gears (Firebird 400's)/4.33 gears (GTO) and HD cooling.
