Father's Day car show at Concord High School. Took home 1st place for 1960s car which was a nice surprise.
Hung out with a couple other Pontiac guys I haven't met before. The '69 was a loaded cream puff. Really nice car with a really cool owner. '73 Firebird was a Formula 350 4 speed.

Took the seats, and carpet out and dug out the old factory sound deadner. Vaccumed up the rusticles as I call them to check out the floor damage. It's nowhere near as rusty as I thought, still going to be a big job for me! Cleaned out the trunk same thing, will need a patch.

Took the original side mirrors off. Took the mirrors out of the body's and tightened the adjustment swivel. I ordered a set of convex mirrors that were supposed to be the same size as the original. Originals were 4 inches in diameter or 101.6mm. The new mirrors were 98.6mm. My nephew has a 3 D printer. We made a set of the plastic grommet that goes between the mirror and the body to fit the new mirrors. Waiting for the glue to dry, then the mirrors go back on the mirror stalks.

My son had a baseball game in a small town about 35 miles away. This is actually the closest opponent he plays. So weather was clear, but a hot, for here, 90 degrees.
I took the ‘63. I counted only 2 stop signs between my house and the ball game. Nice relaxing drive. Never got over 180 degrees, and that was going up long hills.

Damnit. Ordered a full set of non-GM injectors, should be here Friday. Weird thing - the engine will run without the intake! |

Nothing. Finished fixing my riding mower.
Anyway I forgot to mention this- when I was driving my kid to his game yesterday, just for gits and shiggles I turned the radio on-and it worked! I went through the dial and many stations came in perfectly clear. This is a, I’m assuming, original AM radio. I had to think for a minute, I could swear this radio didn’t work! So I quit turning it on after I bought the car. Well, it lasted about 20 minutes, all the sudden it just kind of made a high pitched beep, and it was done. It turned off. On the way home I tried it again, and nothing. One of these days I’ll get the radios going, none of them work in all 3 of my old cars, even though I have replacements for my 2 old Pontiacs sitting up on the shelf.

Working on getting repairs done from my trailer mishap on my 1968 Firebird. Other issues being resolved. Hope to get it in my buddy's shop to get alignment and finally driving it after 21 years! Still a long ways to go to get it looking good, happy to drive it.

Settled on a plan for picking up the '26 Pontiac, about two weeks from now.. I'll reserve a motel room there, so driving will be all in daylight (couldn't find anyone to help drive there and back in one day). I'll take the '17 Buick with me to sell on consignment at the dealer- Classic Auto Mall in Morgantown PA (the Pontiac can be seen on their website, labelled "sold").

Great skills to learn, although I cringe a little with the bracelets on that beautiful paint, especially after getting my first scrape from a clueless couple at a car show I attended.

You're not the first person to mention that. My kids are pretty careful around the cars, but accidents can happen. I'm not a great example as I'm pretty bad about using a fender protector unless I'm doing major surgery.

Took my GTO out on a 50 mile stress test in this heat . Ran the AC ( vintage air ) temp never got to the half way mark on the repro rally gauges , except at stop lights . Ran great , no signs of detonation on 93 octane at 10. 1 with iron heads . No vapor lock issues with a full heat soak in this 95deg heat . I’m very pleased .

Went out for another drive today with the freshly fixed carb. It's running great. Since I left with a full tank for my test drive yesterday afternoon, I decided to fill up again and check my mileage after todays drive. I got 17.2 mpg. That was on a windy mountain road. That's compared to 8.4 with the previous Quadrajet that had a bent, non-functioning primary rod measured on the exact same road and route. That's way better than I expected so I'll have to test more to verify.

Pulled front drums to inspect and adjust brakes and repack bearings. I found that it most likely still had original bearings and seals and needed packed badly. After cleaning and inspection I had to replace the bearings.
Next up, adding under dash gauges.

Finally took my car for a drive after an engine swap. Ran good and strong, need to dial in the carb a little.
