The yellow car has pro street tires on it. That is more of an issue than slicks at the track. ROADS ARE ROUGH EVERYWHERE !!! With slicks, there is less movement on even a rough track than a prostreet tire on the roads. If the rear is moving side to side that much that the slicks can't be tight in the wheelwell, then there's a suspension set up problem.

I'm saying on a rough track a slick could flex from side to side and rub.
It could happen. I plan for the worst.

My Vega at rest and say pushing it or very slow speed such as not quite idling along, rubs the slicks on both sides slightly. But even on rough tracks, it does not rub going down track. Think it's stuffed enough?

I agree with most thats been said about the 4-link too. However I am still using a mini-tub with ladders. I just didn't want to back half the car yet. Personnally I think if thats all the tire you want to run why not mini tub it? You could keep the back seat, get the tires on it that you want and look into one of the adjustable ladder bar kits like the outlaw bars from www.chassisengineering.com or www.ultralinksuspension.com

Before you go and back half your car ask your self what you ultimate goal is, if you think you're gonna get fair races on the street or at a grudge night with a 4-link car your wrong. I've watched quite a few 4-link car go down down the road every which way but straight-4-limks don't work on the street-i think it has to do with the crown of the road-

Anyway good luck with whatever you do- I'm looking for ANOTHER car to start on, just sold the 67 4spd car!!

I've watched quite a few 4-link car go down down the road every which way but straight-4-limks don't work on the street-i think it has to do with the crown of the road-

Steves1967, I have owned and driven plenty of Pro Street cars. The ladder bar cars have been the most relieable as far as hiem joint wear, but the way the 4 link cars were done I've had, they were very stable. I really believe it is how the 4 link and ladder bar suspension is set up by whoever does the work. I have seen plenty of ladder bar cars dog track as well as 4 link cars. And I've seen then sway, both suspension styles. I just enjoy being able to get more forward, not up bite with the 4 link set up. Now if you want a car that sways, try a blown big block/ 4 speed in a monza coupe with a leaf spring/ladderbar rear suspension and floaters !!! Yeah, you hang on to the wheel!!!

Hey Steve what's going on? Man your everywhere. You get the trans back in yet? I am planing on going to Kool April night, how about you? Unfortunately Hot August nights is out for me this year it's a week later this year and I have to be in Brainerd MN for a race.

Oh hey dude! I missed your car by 2 weeks...I had a friend interested, oh well. Ya the new motor is in and runing going to take it out in april when I get back.

I think I'm gonna look for another 67/68 Bird- probably around summertime, don't care if it's a 6cyl but i don't want a numbers matching car again....I didn't have the nuts to cut it up!!!
