to bruce: what i meant by old is for the people who dont have the balls to put 2500hp to 10" tires on stock suspension and go 7's. they say when u age or have children that u slow down. older people prefer safe over on the edge. its the facts of life. if anyone with ladderbars or a 4 link want to grudge at norwalk at this years pontiac show that is fine. we'll go by d/r rules for weight only. i'll bring my twins and s/s and we will have some FUN! im not here to bash people unless i know u personally. were all here to have fun.

No problem MBR! I guess I'm different then most my age when I think about it(I'm only going to be 55 this year). Nothing wrong with pushing the edge just dont be stupid and not know what the edge is. Problem being young is learning the edge and surviving!
Hell till bone cancer messed up my back I was the old guy the younger guys said they hoped they became. 3 years ago I was still riding/racing snowmobiles hard and fast(with lots of air time or carrying the skis off the ground 100 feet out drag racing them)My kids friends thought I was nuts I think. Some of their parents questioned if I was a good example. I gave that snowmobile stuff up for warmer weather and much longer car season. Me run ladder bars? No, I love the stock suspension stuff. My program is in the scrounging up money for parts stage (The cancer thing was a bit of a setback) but have a very nice 84 GP waiting for a real Pontiac motor to replace the pos 305. I was initially planning to try a 6-71(for the look factor) but for the money I have decided to go twin turbo instead. (My son is an Air conditioner designer so we are going to make our own intercooler) I have a very strong factory block(59) already at 400 cid. (can safely bore another .090)debating which forged crank I want (likely 4" but wont rule out the 3.75). I wont be ready this year for sure. The wife wants to bring her Firebird up for Norwich but thats more show than race. I know you werent bashing me and look forward to meeting you. Bruce |

good luck with your cancer treatment!! what size twins are u going with? turbo is the best way to go. problem is that most people think they know how to tune them but they really dont. if going with injection i strongly recommend the big stuff 3 management system. if u havent bought anything yet there is a guy up here in columbus ohio who can get a good deal on turbos and parts to go along with it. he'll tell u that u need a chevy engine but he can get u going in the right direction.
pirez is going to be fast until some of us yankee's with a turbos come down there. he for sure is the real deal in the nos camp. needs to go 1/4 mi instead of that 1/8 mi stuff. |

Believe it or not Pirez doesnt talk any different than a lot of upstate NY guys I know(including the accent) the slangs a little different though.(truth be told there are more rednecks and good ol boys in upstate NY than you'd ever imagine) However the NY guys I know that talk like Pirez usually cant walk the talk. Beware of the quiet ones though!
Thanks for the lead MBR I'm debating between T04B v1/v2 or 62-1's. either offers alot of flexibility and will handle either stroke I chose. Will stay with carb for now(tempted to go old school draw through but that makes it tough to intercool and cuts into spool up). Cancer is in remission about a year now. Need surgery to straighten me up but those things arent enough to stop me. Its not my nature to give up just because there is an obstacle. Makes the challenge more fun. Between my wifes car my project and a 6 year old with a strong interest in JrDragster I'm going to have my hands full for a long time. |
