Phil, I'll bet that's the same thing you said at your wedding.

I talked with Norman Tuesday and he said the car is almost ready to paint. He has a little work left on the outside then he will re-shoot the inside with the correct color. Then it will be the exterior's turn.
I worked all week and yesterday I attended the funeral of a good friend. He was an old school mechanic and could tell you how to fix anything! He was only 50 years old. Today, I started re-arranging my shop to get all my wood working tools put up out of the way. I also got all my car parts in one general area. I bought a GTO grab handle assembly from a fellow PYer and will up date totals next week. Y'all have a good one.

It's a dreary day here. Misty rain and only 62 degrees. Thankfully, we have a new central A/C and it's toasty warm inside.
Oh, I almost forgot, this is my restoration thread so I reckon I should post something about the car. I haven't heard from Norman but I feel like the car is not too far from coming home. I spent 4 hours yesterday restoring the bucket seat tracks. I media blasted them, then i wire wheeled them. I painted them with cast blast then wrapped some paper around the tracks and painted the feet satin black. It wasn't until I took pictures of the finished job that I noticed the release mechanisms are slightly different. Other than that, they are the same. I haven't installed the new knobs yet. I want to bolt the tracks to the seats and make sure they work first. So, here are the latest totals with 4 hours labor and $112.00 for the GTO grab bar I got last week. My Labor @449 hrs ................$8,980.00 Parts .................................$13,746.51 Outside labor ........................$7,801.00 Gifts ...................................$2,291.25 Total .................................$32,812.76

I know exactly what you mean though...this damp, rain soaked 50 to 60 degrees for 4 or 5 days straight puts a chill in your bones...not actually cold..but I'll put it this way...if I'd had some DRY wood last night, I would have lit a fire in the stove.

It was only 24 here yesterday morning, but the windchill felt like 0. We froze our nuggies off getting the L-39 out and ready to fly. We talked him out of getting the Mig out because the cloud base was only 1200 feet, and the taxi ways were ice covered. Not a good day up here to taxi a jet that only has differential braking to steer by.

Greg, be thankful you weren't in western Algeria this past Sunday. They had a blizzard in the desert.... yeah the white crap we all hate this time of year. LOL

Well, my buddy bought a 55 Nomad and we took it over to Norman's so he could look at it. I got a brief visitation with my car. It is doing well and looking better. Here are a few pics of the work that has been done to the right tail panel area. Still no paint but it shouldn't be too long now, maybe less than a year!
I also sent my gauges to Pete Serio for him to restore. I will update totals next week after the Moultrie Swap Meet.

No need to update totals because I didn't buy anything at the swap meet. I was really disappointed with this meet. The weather was perfect but the parts, cars and people just didn't show up.
I talked to Norman and he kinda, sorta hinted around that he might be starting to get ready to think about painting my car! He also told me I need to bring him some more money so he must really be considering it! ![]() I will update totals when I have something to add.

Good news! Norman is actually thinking about painting my car!! It'll be coming home any month now! Other than that I have nothing else to report this week.

He has to do some final sanding and it will be ready to shoot. He also has to re paint the interior because it is the wrong color.
I joke a lot about this but everything is working out in a timely manner.

You really have to be patient for good bodywork and paint a lot of times.
You know the old saying.. You can have it any TWO of the following three ways... Good Fast Cheap

Yeah, think about it. It actually works better that way
Good + Cheap won't be Fast Good + Fast won't be Cheap Cheap + Fast won't be Good
