I have owned 5 Hyundai Equus sedans for my transportation business. These are now the new Genesis line. An off shoot from Kia/Hyundai. I have put nearly 400,000 miles total on them, never a problem. You can't compare the low end Korean cars to the high end they are producing. Its like comparing a Honda Civic to a Lexus sedan.
But these cars have 429 HP lots of room and looks to boot. GM and Ford have let us down by not producing the larger sedans since 2011. Leaving me to look else ware.

I will always be a GM/Pontiac fanatic but times do change. These large sedans will kick the crap out of our stock GTO's in the 1/4 mile. And that's a V8 with 4 doors. A 16CYL? Oh Boy
That being said, Most all Korean cars will never be collectors items!

I have owned 4 Hyundais and my experience has been counter to all the all the nay sayers. My first was a 300G, the first full sized Hyundai. I had an issue at 10K miles with intermittent running on 5 cylinders. Dealer told me to just bring it in, no appointment needed. When I arrived, they gave me a loaner. Expecting some used car, I was pleased to find a brand new 300G like mine waiting. The issue was a faulty coil pack. After that initial minor problem, I never had reason to go back to the dealer besides oil changes and tire rotation.They replaced all the coil packs (same batch) and replaced the plugs and washed and vacuumed the car. Your domestic car dealer would have you wait a week for an appointment, replace the faulty part only and send you packing with paper floor mats and greasy footprints in the carpet.

I next owned a Hyundai Azera that never went to dealer except for fluids, tire rotation and tires over 75K of ownership. I traded it for a Sonata T (Turbo 4) that put out 290HP. It was an absolutely great car with an ultra firm suspension that was part of the T package. It was very fast and had no issues over the course of ownership and only returned to the dealer for fluids and tires. I traded the Sonata for an Azera after my 62 year old bones tired of the sports suspension. I am a nut about squeeks and rattles and happy to say every Hyundai I've owned was tight as a drum. They make very good cars.

The key.... You should be glad it isn't a GM product. You know what happens with keys in their ignitions.

Nice to be flippant about it when it's not happening to you. The broken key thing does leave you stranded unless you have tools with you to turn the stub left in the ignition

We never had that Chevy SS here. I don't believe that I've seen one of those cop cars in person either. Every police department here is using the Taurus. Maybe because it was only RWD? I can't see them selling many RWD Stingers in my climate either. In it's AWD configuration, the panache is taken away, the price goes up, and all of a sudden it's competing with a hell of a lot of other vehicles that are not named KIA.

a Kia story. My co worker purchased a new Kia and had it on a trip to North Carolina(4 states away) over the summer as the engine put a rod thru the block at 12k miles. These are old people and drive it as such. They had it towed to a local Kia dealer down there and they gave em a rental for the trip home. When they got home in the mailbox was a recall from Kia on engines letting go. Fast forward 6 month later.. Yes you read that right. The replacement engine was the wrong one and it had to be reordered.. But the one that explodes was on back order. They had the rental for 6 months! After they finally got it fixed, they had to fly to NC and pick it up. True story

Hyundai/Kia's come with the longer warranty because they need it.
