Funny that you should mention that. I had planned on exactly that and doing a live stream thru Facebook. (YouTube charges a fee for live stream). Started my Facebook page, tried to connect and it told me that live stream is prohibited till your page is 60 days old. So stay tuned.....

Good for you. I always wanted a road race TA. Money! I can't imagine the feeling. I watch vids of that guy in Europe with a TA. Love to hear the sound. Good driving.

Yes, the GoPro will live stream and also record to an SD card; so I can upload to YouTube later and publish a link.

I grabbed a couple of those allstar breather setups, going to give it a wing...

Great to hear the first outing did well!

I noted you had stated earlier you were running a wet sump and some sort of oil cooler. Are you running the cooler in-line and using the engine pump for that? Or are you running some type of scavenge pump from the pan directly?

I'm getting conflicting statements on the need to have a scavenge pump for an oil cooler vs running a cooler from the factory style pump.

Did you monitor oil temps at all? If so, what did they look like?

Wet sump with Canton T-pan. No oil pressure issues. The cooler is full flow. Oil from the block goes thru the filter, then oil cooler and back to block. Moroso accumulator plumbed into the block by the distributor. I dont measure oil temperature. I picked the oil cooler based on reasonable size to mount and it looks like the cooler that Herb Adams used. My only other data point is that it's about twice as big as Shelby used on the 427 Cobras.

Thanks for the info. I’m not certain I’ve ever seen one of the VSE oil coolers.

Perhaps I’m over-thinking this. My plan has been to use the Nitemare Performance remote filter setup and plumb an oil cooler in-line with that. I’ve been getting info that the engine pump won’t handle that however.

I'm not familiar with the Nitemare filter. A larger oil cooler will have less pressure drop if all channels are in parallel. I measure oil pressure downstream of filter and cooler and get consistent 80 psi from a Melling pump with Tin Indian bottom plate.

When I go to the garage, I'll send the part number of my cooler

Mishimoto MMOC-19. 19 row which is about mid size in the range of engine oil coolers. I attached a pic out of the old Herb Adams catalog showing the cooler in his oiling kits. Wix 51515R oil filter, which is coarser filtering and better flowing than the street model 51515.

Thanks, appreciate it! The shop that does my alignments put together a quote for a 13 row unit based on available space.

I’m just looking to get back into HPDE’s so if I can’t make the full 20 minute session, that’s not the end of the world.

I run Valvoline VR1 full synthetic. It can handle a bit of heat and a refill after a weekend a couple times a year isn’t out of the question.

Here’s the Nitemare remote filter that I’d add the oil cooler to.

Filter assembly looks great! Realistically, any cooler is way better than no cooler. I think the one used on 427 Cobras was 10-row.

I could add an oil temp gage but then that starts down a rabbit hole where the engineer in me wants to track lots of data!

Good luck with your build. We need pix.

Here's how I mounted mine to the center horn support bracket. In at bottom, out at top to purge air.

The Mishimoto stack plate coolers are very good, as are the Earl's ones. They can take hits from road debris and stay intact.

I like Nightmare stuff, but I personally would run better fittings. The Aeromotive tapered fittings flow much better, less restriction (true to size passage), and have less of a psi/flow drop. Compare them to others and the difference is very obvious.

It's crazy how much even name-brand fittings neck down in the passage, and it can force you to go up a size. In general, for oil, you don't want to run 90s. If you have to run a 90, run one of the Aeromotive ones (hose fitting), but due to the radius, you may not be able to.

Some headers have a tube that gets very close to the block where the filter housing adapter is, so you need to be careful of that.

Just some of my personal experience(s) I'm sharing...

Hard to believe Darrin runs those "hard 90" fittings on the remote filter mount.
These are a better deal if you need a 90 and don't have much room. A lot smoother and no O rings to leak, generic Amazon deal. I have a couple on my fuel system and no leaks

Okay glad to hear this is all working for you guys.

I run Doug’s 1 3/4” long tubes. I can’t get a standard sized filter in there due to depth, not width. I’ve been using a smaller LS sized filter. Also one of the reasons for a remote setup.

I should be able to get hoses out of the block without using 90’s.

Photo for reference. The car uses SPC upper and lowers, Hellwig bars, QA1 ProCoils in the front and Global West Cat5 leafs in the back. It needs more tire, but it’s not supposed to be competitive.

I have a vent setup similar on my Moser 12 bolt. I have the vent mounted on top of the axle where the brake line T sits. While I've never had the car in a lapping environment, it gets beat on. I've never had an issue with it.
