I’m sorry that this thread has devolved into what can most be compared to the normal partisan bickering that defines society today. It’s pretty sad for society and PY. I admire all that you manage to accomplish there with such adverse conditions and availability of parts and expertise. That said, as someone who has been sued in a Quatar court, my recommendation is that you pack your stuff for the UK, call it good enough, and get the UK and sort this out. I can’t imagine cruising through Quatar in a TA. Pretty cool. My respect and admiration. Good luck.

I've been listening to the old tick I had before (the one that was a valve spring in the end) on the YouTube video. That tick was slower and a little lower pitched. This one does sound quite similar but a faster cadence. So I guess I can't rule out a bottom end source. But I just kinda don't think so.

The only difference on the bottom end this time is Jay's piston replacing my blown up one and the sleeve (which doesn't seem to be leaking). I did notice Jay's piston pin was stiffer than mine. My other seven are totally free. Jay's has a bit of stiffness to it. But it's not bad. Otherwise his rod and piston look like my other seven. Same pin height, same bore. I replaced all the rings and bearings..

Yeah, 15-30 I'm guessing is too thin, and can be contributing. Wouldn't hurt to try a 20-50, see if you have an improvement. Probably would be running at least a 15-40 if it were me, though don't recall you bearing clearances. That would also help in the event you do have sloppy pin clearances too.

Guessing you've checked the fuel pump eccentric too, and the pump itself? Close inspection of the distributor?

On the oil.

Your oil pressure gage will tell you if you have a problem. If you have good pressure you shouldn't have any ticks.
If you see it fluctuating that will indicate a problem.

Listened and watch your videos again. The 2nd video, drivers side sounds like the noise is being made over on the drivers side. When you moved the camera around on the drivers side the sound changed, especially when you went to the front and held your phone in front of the radiator hose. Then you moved the camera over to the passenger side and the tick continue but then the whirl of the roller rockers is pickup up in the mic. The rocker arm whirl on the drivers side seemed to be drowned out by the tick.

I know your planning changing the cam and lifters for the 60919. Thought I’d meantion it anyway. 2nd video was the only vid that I thought there was a difference.

I have been following your post. The piston your running came out of a T37 stock we ran 20 years ago (Jay and I) It's amazing it's on the other side of the world now. I doubt the little tighter pin would make the noise since a piston expands and becomes looser on the wrist pin as it warms up. Typically most piston noise's usually change significantly as the engine warms. And if I remember right the other seven pistons pin fit were similar to the one you have in your car as Jay stated. Iknow you have looked over the engine for exhaust leaks. The exhaust crossover on the intake is pretty hard to diagnose if it leaks on the bottom. I didn't detect much noise difference with your valve covers Off/on. I expected a much louder noise with them off. I was wondering if you did? I did notice the valve train noise was louder...as it should... just wasn't sure if your tic got louder.

All bickering aside I am having Paul’s lifter bore mod done to my block and am using the Lunati lifters. If I have a tick I will tell people it’s a mechanical cam LOL

Exactly what I've been saying, don't ignore the ticks. It's a warning just like a dumby light.
We took the tickless 'bird with the little cam out for a nice long run last night.
It has this awesome pavement pounding sound. Snotty as you let off. It kept reminding me of a movie with Steve Mcqueen. It sounds like the Mustang only much better looking. lol Gives you that raw power feeling like you are KING KONG!! Want to pound your chest. Had no takers. Even the Judge backed off.
If you listen to the 'Steve's Stang' at about a minute into the video that's what the little cam bird sounds like. Perfection for the street in my opinion.

I tell people I have a HUGE cam but I'm so darn good at tuning it idles like it has a little cam! ROFL Having tons of fun with this. If I could get another gear(not another cam) I would be in heaven.

Another note on the small cam, edelbrock 2157, and high compression; All gas isn't created equal. Got a tankful of 93 at Mobil and only added one bottle of octane booster, it didn't have detonation. With Marathon gas I had to bust out two bottles of octane booster to get rid of the ping. This is after I set the timing with a light and corrected it by ear. The ear is always better than the light. The light is good for troubleshooting but the ear rules for the finished product.

I researched them and the 108 stood out. It will even work for over the winter storage.

One of my Birds, the '69 that I rotisserie restored in my shop, doesn't get hardly any use so it's important to have fuel that is stable for a really long time.
The numbers matching RA III engine is priceless to me and it's gets pampered with booster so I don't ever have to worry about damage from detonation.

About the tick:

I noticed that if you overfill your oil you will have quite a bit of oil pressure fluctuation. That would be from the crank spinning up the oil like a blender creating bubbles that don't pump well. I figured that out when using a ZDDP additive to my oil. Got it a little too full and watched the oil pressure drop. On one really good launch I heard some ticking as the oil pressure dropped. I changed the oil making sure I got it exactly right on the stick and the pressure stayed between 40 and 60 consistently.
