The Dave Duell Classic is the largest NSS event in the country. It started out at the Monster Mopar event in St. Louis a few years back. This is the event that gets 70 to 80 cars each year. The "other" brands pair up against the Mopars in the early rounds till the overall winner is decide. This year it will be held at Beech Bend in conjunction with the NMCA event. This event will have a good indication for turnout as to the location, for us Pontiac guys, Norwalk is the same weekend.

They had 84 cars last time. Combining this event with NMCA should top that. $4000.00 to win and they feed you also. Run heads up on Sat. for class winners. Its a 9.9 in my book but Norwalks a 10 63 tempest 421sd---61 tempest wagon 421sd 4 speed

Thanks for the link Calvin. A few years back we were at BeechBend's waterpark and they had a Mopar event over at the track. There were other brands running. I figure they were doing something similar.
I think getting a group like that together for next years event would certainly bring spectators. Last months Hot Rod reunion had a large showing of NSS cars and most the fans were stayin put while they were running.(and that day was just qualifying/time trials).

People that have ideas as how to organize a race ?
Are they racers?
I've been on a racetrack since 1964. When they only had a flag start.
Don't tell me I haven't tried it all!

  • 298 dollars in gas
  • 60 dollars in race gas
  • 60 dollars for camping
  • 125 dollars for food
  • 50 dollars entry fee
  • Red lighting first round in both the gamblers race and Warrior bracket priceless!

I would suggest a losers gambler race to be held after second round is complete with buy backs. Track rental for the whole day so time is not an issue. It is a long trip for some people and to go out first round and then load up stinks. What about grudge match racing both people give 10 bucks and the winner gets his money back plus the other guys money it mite be fun! Just an idea!

Nice job OLD GOAT!

Very nice car too!

I agree about the track everyone seemed to move to the left after leaving the line. My car felt like it was moving all over the place down the track very hard to keep in the grove and that is not normal for my car.

Nice job Old Goat! I didn't attend but had some friends that were there. Traction was indeed a joke.

Just got back from KC "Muscle Car Reunion" Car count was waay down.
A meeting was called Sunday morning for Super Pro racers & they were told payout would be reduced. They could have a refund if they wanted.
The flyer didn't say "guaranteed payout" but it didn't say pro-rated if car count wasn't a certain number ??
Talked to the track promotor, he said he has taken 5 hard hits in the last 3 years.
Didn't know if he would have the race next year.

I runnered-up again. I just can't win.

Always a bridesmaid huh??
I've been that more than a bride over the years. But at least you made it to the first loser category again!
