Default body mounts

Forgive me for asking but Im away from all my literature and car is deep in storage.
Im gathering parts for my 67 Tempest Sprint sport coupe.
I bought a body mount kit and it only came with 10 mounts and 10 bolts.
I now see a diagram that shows 14.
Why would they supply only 10? are the other 4 completely different?

There are numerous "dummy" insulators, do not take a bolt. Convertibles & station wagons use the most body bolts. On '68-72 A-body's, there are 3 different length body bolts, yet the aftermarket only has two lengths of the correct flanged head style avail. Been too long since have had a '67 GTO off the frame, but def worth researching the different length of original bolts in a early Pontiac Master Parts Book.

I can do the research when I replace mine.
But would be nice to have all the right stuff before I start.
thanks.

When I did my body mounts, I know there were at least two “dummy” or “rider” body mounts. I do not remember if there were four. The two I remember were located around the center of the doors.

As pinion head stated, they do not accept a bolt and are solid rubber pucks. I don’t believe they are available to purchase new, no repro’s available. My car(and I believe all 67s) still had the cage nuts to thread in a body bolt. So I just replaced those with a regular body mount/bolt. I figured adding more tie down would strengthen the chassis.

And I called supplier and they confirmed it only took 10.

I just talked to a buddy whos got his 65 wagon on lift with all the mounts out.
His car has all 14 mounts bolted.
the 2 under the doors are shorter bolts(3/8" shorter) and there is no built in washer on the head of it.
He has no "solid" mounts only thru bolted.
How do these suppliers get stuff so wrong?
Looks like I ll be ordering 4 individual biscuits and re using 2 of the 2-3/4",and 2 of the 2-3/8"bolts.
Thanks for the pic Jeff

When i did mine, I had at least 2 non-bolted mounts near the kick-up of the frame towards the rear as i recall.

George did yours have the cage nut for a bolt on those?
Was your mount solid or did it have a hole?

Over the years I have found the 66-67 A-Bodies varied with body mounting.
Never keeping track I can't say it was just another Plant to Plant anomaly but likely so.

I have parted many that had 4 solid mounts that I refer to as "Pucks" and of course full mounts where all 14 mounts are bolt through.

The Chevy kits have both flavors.

Jeff those solid pucks you speak of

I just received a set from Ames for my '64. I bought the "2nd Design" which contains 1 pair of larger diameter mounts that may go in the #3 spot under the doors. Won't know until I remove the body. I have the layout that Jeff posted, but just realized the factory used different combinations of 2 different colored mounts. Not sure if the difference between the violet and blue is diameter, thickness or density. The kit I received are all the same except the 2 I mentioned.

My '66 GTO Sports Coupe has fourteen body mounts, all through-bolted. That's in addition to the mounts for the radiator core support. Looks like the photo that Jeff posted above. I ordered a kit from OPGI, and the bushings located underneath the doors had to be trimmed slightly to fit into the hole in the frame. No big deal. I will say, however, that the hardware provided in my OPGI kit was J.U.N.K. - total garbage. Lowest quality hardware available.

Default Body mount bolt length

Yesterday I install the body mounts on my 1967 GTO. and when I tightened the mount bolts under the doors the bolt came through the floor pan. Also the the bolt for #4 mount was to long. Does anyone know what the proper length is for the different body mount locations? These kits are real crap!

So, is it best just to order the Chevy kit?

Yes I did read it, but I don't think it mentions exactly where the bolt lengths go except for #3 mount. So #3 is 2-3/8" long and the remaining 12 mounts are 2-3/4 " long?

Where did you get the mounts and hardware? I bought the mounts and spent extra for the "Correct" hardware kit from Ames. #3 - 2 1/4" all others 2 9/16"

New mounts came with car. Probably not correct after reading your thread. Think I need to purchase factory correct from Ames.

the mounts I got from Inline tube seem OK are made in USA and has what appears to be the correct washered pointed bolts.
But just make sure to buy the kit listed as convertible that has 14 biscuits vs 10 like I got.
