Seatbelts
Can I install seatbelts myself or do I need to leave it to professionals? I can’t get anyone to take the job on. Upholstery shops send me to body shops and body shops don’t want to do “small” jobs. I have four 2 front and back to install

If you can use a wrench, you can install seat belts. They just bolt into the threaded holes in the floor pan.

If for some reason your floor pan doesn't have the holes or studs drill them before installing the carpet. Install the carpet and poke through the carpet from underneath with an awl and then make a cross slit over the hole with a carpet knife. Do not try to drill through the carpet! If you have to nut and bolt, use a large flatwasher/fenderwasher under the car and a Grade 8 nut.
If your carpet's already in, cut the slits where needed and slip a steel busing through and drill through the bushing, keeping the carpet off the drill bit. One snag and you'll snag the carpet a long way before you get the drill stopped.

No carpet. I am broke now, seats are covered and the car willl be on the road when it comes back from the AC shop. I’m gonna put down some dyno mat as I can but there won’t be carpet or headliner etc for a while

https://www.gtoforum.com/threads/rea...-65-gto.37406/ This is probably the same for your car. Maybe it will help.

If you look at the body tub from underneath you might be able to see a reinforced area where the holes are supposed to be.

There were no holes or spots to install in my ‘65, so there won’t be any in your ‘64 either. Someone sent me the plans for it when I did my restoration 9 years ago. I’ll see if I can find them.

I add a 3/16"X3" square plate (or approximate) welded to the floor to reinforce the mounting bolt. But only if the floor is strong enough.

They sell the threaded anchors online, but I just made my own by using the centers from old lawn mower blades and welding a nut to them.

Since you are installing seatbelts which is a good idea. I have a 64 GTO. My GTO had holes mention in above replies. I wanted the extra safety, so I installed shoulder restraints. If you decide to add shoulder restraints, I can send you pictures of what I did.
