If you replace the stockers I would go directly to an adjustable shock and bypass the bilstiens if its within your budget. A Ridetech HQ or Varishock SA. The Bilstiens were a huge improvement over the stockers but they are 30 year old technology. My experience with the HQ's from Ridetech has been great so far, they have been a huge improvement over the Bilstiens even and street driving is fantastic.

Angry Wheel Hop- Order of Importance??

The bars that are shown are NOT the ones I mentioned in my first reply! See this link below:

http://www.amazon.com/Lakewood-Div-O.../dp/B000VTTBEQ

After installing these, ZERO wheel hop, car squats and plants both tires!! Less sideways driving when under power. Also, I used 50/50 rear Monroe shocks with this combination!

Also, the instructions in .pdf from Lakewood tell you to put 8 psi in the R/H airbag, my experience has been (as mentioned earlier) is with 12 psi in the R/H bag.

This is a fox body, but it shows u what's going on with wheel hop and how he cured it with aftermarket arms.

Nice vids!

Yeah, he's got new uppers and lowers already, which is why I was focusing on the shocks. Worn bushings is the typical cause on older cars.

There's 2 theories on the rear suspension, one is to change the instant center, which is what the no-hop bars do. Dick Miller has a good book that covers that theory, and his parts/kits are pretty good:

I'm still leaning towards shocks though, and if they're junk, would be the first thing to try.

I use Indian Adventures Lower control arms (now out of business) which I believe are very similar to South Side Machine's.Using those with air bags and drag shocks car never hopped and ran 10:80's with 60 ft times @ 1.5sec.

Got the racing shocks on 30/70 setting (comp. Eng.) from a dead stop seems to be good! Little small chirps if Im rolling 25mph and jump on it the ride is much nicer also wonder if a diff setting may get rid of the small chirps?

Quick update... I ended up installing QA1 No-Hop bars and a set of spherical joints on frame side of upper arms, and you guessed it... NO HOP! Worked great on street tires and a set of 10" slicks at the track.

Good to hear. Made a set for my 66 442 4 speed and it solved the issue on the spot. IIRC GM changed the upper arm setup in 68?

Here I go again put on some old tires thought I would have a little fun and they hopped like a b#%@h.I had a idea about how the rearend rotates and after I seen some pics heres what I tryed. A piece of chain from the top bracket of the rear end and bolted it with a little play in it to the lower control arm. Went back and tryed it and the hop was gone. Took the car for a 20 mile ride and seemed to ride normal. When the rear turns up it pulls on the chain making it try to lift the car I tryed it on one side and it worked then I put it on the other side as well
