Default 69 GTO support filler question....

Hello guys, I have a question about the filler that goes between the radiator and the bumper. Part bumper RPE213 in question. I've been waiting on this filler for several weeks from PY...back ordered I suppose. My question: is the textured side supposed to go up or down? The other side is a semi-gloss very smooth finish which I don't think goes up....I'm pretty sure the textured side goes up and that's really how I'd like it to be. I mean, why would it be textured if it was not to be seen?

It can only go one way, but I'd prefer it to be the textured side, but that's the way it won't fit. I guess I'm wondering if I have an incorrectly cut part......I just don't know as I've never taken notice on other cars.

Thanks for the help.

~Joe

Textured side up. The originals are textured on both sides.

Textured is up and that's the only way it fits.

Thanks guys. Textured is what i thought. That confirmed my thoughts. Check the pics....looks like I have a piece that was cut on the wrong side....

Smooth...

Textured....

Fits great on the smooth side up....

Textured side up....not so good....

Thoughts?

I have owned 4 GTO's in my lifetime,my first was a 68 in 1975 and the other's were/are 69 GTO's.
My current one I have owned for 11 years now,and none of them had a textured filler pannel.

I've owned two, both '68s. The first one was an early car from Kansas City. My current is a late one from Arlington. Maybe it was a factory thing?

I also remember the original being more pliable. I destroyed mine with some aircraft paint remover

Just to keep you ALL informed... the mfg made a run of them backwards... they are working on fixing the problem. Joe, BEFORE you send it back, hang on... let's see what the mfg says. They might have you just throw it away... I just also sent you an e-mail about what I found. Mike

I have a 70 and its the same way, I didn't get it from PY though. I was going to run it, its still in the bag, only a few months in my possession. Do you think they are all from the same manufactuer? John

"Do you think they are all from the same manufacturer? John"

I suspect they're all made by REM; every one of the reproductions I've ever seen was made by them.

Just FYI for everyone, I got my filler direct from....someone (assuming REM), didn't say on the box and had no notes......and it is absolutely correct and looks great. Thank you Mike for relaying the info. Got er done just in time.

Once again, Mike pulls thru. Thanks again!

X2
2 '69 Judges & 3 '69 GTOs that I owned in the 80's were all smooth both sides. I have 4-5 fillers (damaged) from parts cars over the years also that are smooth both sides.
