Default 66 Catalina Wagon

What is the value of these cars? I stumbled across a 4 door Catalina wagon with a 350 Pontiac and 4 speed trans. It's a dessert car so there isn't any rust to speak off and it appears to be pretty complete.

I have a soft spot for wagons..

So do I!
'66 wagons are not very easy to find and are one of my favorite years. Post up some pics and go for it even if you sell it after.

How hard is it to find parts for these cars? My father has a 67 Bonneville conv and that car is difficult to find parts for.

He says he has all the trim for it in the car. Along with a couple of extra doors, AC dash and accessories.

I know the car needs some glass. Is the glass even available?

Ditto. The 4 speed setup if factory parts is worth some change. Wagons are my personal weak spot but you'd be hard pressed to sell a mint condition one for big bucks. Good drivers being bought for $3-5k are good deals, not too many survived so the selection is limited. Expensive wagons DO exist, but they are rare and don't always sell quickly.

From the front doors and forward pretty straightforward to get most parts. Front end sheet metal, dash, and interior up front is the same as the rest of the models. Rear doors back is where it becomes wagon only. Specialty parts dealers, used cars, and praying you can rework your existing stuff is what you have to deal with there.

Same with the parts comments I made. Rear doors back can be a bear to come by, the side glass is something everyone wants and the tail gate glass can be hard to come by. Lots of idiots like to shoot out glass of cars that are sitting around not being moved and wagons are extra difficult to come by. Every wagon I've had I bought extra glass for to have "just in case."

65 and 66 Big Pontiac wagons are cool. I have owned several. Bonnevilles are nicer and have more appeal due o the extra chrome and (usually) options. IMO non running rough wagons would be $750-1000. decent running but ugly ones usually don't sell for more than 2500. if you want a wagon, buy the nicest one you can......parts are very hard to find. 65-6/8 Chevy big wagons are similar but use many different parts. the only real parts sources are 65-68 Pontiac Big wagons.

Big Chevy wagons of the era will use the same glass.

That car is so bastardized and picked over that it is likely not worth more than $1500. No parts available except what you find at the yards and on E-Bay.

Yeeah, they're OK Since getting my '63, the GTO has been sitting in the garage ALOT!
There are some decent deals around on these years, just have to search out the ones that are not so far gone that allocating parts, time and $$ will kill ya.

If you are thinking about getting a 66 Wagon, it may be worth picking this one up to have for spare parts, although it looks like it could be saved also. You should be able to find the glass. I know where a nice set is located here in MN.

Not close to you but here's one I found recently. Looks to be a good deal and in decent shape for a project base.

That 65 is pretty cool. the upper quarter rust is the worst place for these wagons to rust. the lower window channels need to be rebuilt which is not impossible, just time consuming. other than that it looks good. $3500 would probably get it.

I can't say anything about the value but as the other guys here says, wagon specific parts are very hard to get, parts shared with other 66 B-body Pontiacs is a bit easier.
New rear door glass and tailgate window seems to be available at OPGI but are very expensive. The long rear side glass isn't available so they must be custom made, as far as I know.

If it's possible for you, get a parts car. (Or a better one and use this for parts) I know I would like to have a spare wagon, just in case.

A station wagon is a great and very useful ride.

The guy is asking 3k for it but I am sure that's negotiable. I really like the 66's but I think I'll probably pass on this. I would have to put glass into it and after seeing the cost of it I am thinking twice..

A few things:

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned the manual trans hardware, a good b-body conversion is worth some change -- can't tell from pix if this was a true factory M20/21 or not (doubtful, but who knows?)

A decent engine core is still worth some money, not tons, but a running 389 ought to bring a few hundy, at least. Lot of other bits too, car doesn't look like a typical NE/Midwest rustbucket, even though it is a sad dog right now.

Finally, that is the first '66 I've ever seen with that steering wheel instead of the crumbling clear wheels found in every other one out there... it's not Canadian, is it?

Ragtop man. That is the standard wheel. most cars came with the deluxe clear/colored wheels
