Default Danville, CA: Blackhawk Speaker Series - Jim Wangers 3/15

Looks like the Blackhawk Museum in Danville, CA will be hosting Jim Wangers on March 15th as part of their speaker series.

Quote:
The Museum calendar of events scheduled for 2014 is available on our website www.blackhawkmuseum.org, and will be updated as new activities are added during the year. Our Speaker Series for the spring starts on Saturday, February 8th with automotive columnist, European correspondent, and Formula One grand prix editor, Andrew Frankl.

On Saturday March 15, the Speaker Series will feature the legendary "ad man" for Pontiac, Jim Wangers. Widely considered the godfather of the Pontiac GTO, because of the mystique he created around the GTO in the 1960's along with other Pontiac specialty cars, Jim helped establish the "muscle car niche" in the history of America car marketing.
I'm unclear if you have to be a member of the museum ($99) to attend.

Also a reminder for their 1st Sunday monthly Cars & Coffee event. There's been a pretty good variety cars at the last few I attended. There's usually 300-400 cars. Starts officially at 8am and goes until 10:30 or 11 but folks usually start showing up between 7 and 7:30. If you get there early enough they'll give you two free passes to the museum.

3700 Blackhawk Plaza Circle

They don't charge admission on the mornings of C&C. Or at least they didn't the last time we were there. They say they will admit anybody that brings a car to the gig but they don't know who did and didn't when you walk through the doors. Really nice museum and the lecture series are great. Very informative. I'm going to try and make it just because there should be a few more Ponts show up than usual. Unfortunately I don't think my motor will be back in by then so I may have to bring something else.

Just a reminder for tomorrow's event. A few folks are meeting at the Safeway across the street from the museum at 9:00 and heading over to the museum at 9:30 to get settled in before the talk.

Safeway
3496 Camino Tassajara
Danville, Ca. 94506

Blackhawk Museum
3700 Blackhawk Plaza Circle
Danville, CA 94506

This will be my first outing with the new cam. I plan on bringing tools and my AAA card

FYI next month's speaker is Pete Brock

Quote:
Our Speaker Series continues in April with noted car designer Peter Brock. Peter will talk about his time at GM Styling with Harley Earl and Bill Mitchell, and his design that would ultimately become the '63 Corvette Sting Ray. The April event will be on Sunday, April 27 to coincide with the NCCA's Annual 'Legends on Display' Corvette event to be held at the Blackhawk Museum with over 100 Corvettes on display.

Good meeting a couple of you, keep in touch. Did you manage to make it REFORMULATED? I didn't see a '70 Formula around but I might have missed it.

What a beautiful day for a gathering of enthusiasts. This was my first visit to the Blackhawk Museum...it is an absolute jewel!

The cars and display are spectacular. Here is an Italian bodied '63 T-Bird concept that was my favorite American car from the display. I love the roofline!
