I see they sell the bulbs but also a complete headlight..

Well the complete headlight unit looks stock, that would be worth something to me. As usually those led hightlight units are butt ugly, like the set I have.

Led headlights should be against the law.
They blind oncoming traffic and no was that light is good for your eyes.

It's pretty much OEM now, all cars have them.

Everything is going up. Dad just ordered the same batch of Amsoil he always orders. Usually $170, now it's $220.

Exact same headers I was looking at 9 months ago were $750 and now they are $1100.

Cross member I should have bought 6 months ago when it was $200 is now $350

And that's if you can even get the stuff. I've wanted aluminum heads for months and they are MIA, not available. I need 2 camshafts and cores are just non existent.

We've had a Pypes exhaust on order since November and now they are telling me it'll be April. That's been pushed off a couple times now. It was supposed to be February.

For a product that seems to have dethroned JW Speaker in the world of LED headlights, $199 per unit is actually a great price.

I should have specified full assembly instead of bulb alone but still guys, 800 for a set of headlights just because they look stock???? I’ll just keep my halogen

Actually I'm all for the stock appearance and go out of my way to do so.

But, there are cheaper and better ways to accomplish that with the LED headlights that I've posted about a few times, and even a good thread about it just recently.

You can buy the glass housings from Amazon, and places on Facebook, then pick what ever H4 LED bulb you care to use in them, and get it all done for under $100. When done they look like a stock halogen headlight, until you turn them on.

Did it on my wife's camaro since she has trouble seeing at night, and made things much safer for her to drive. Did it on my Chevelle, my sons Mustang, Dad's GTO, and will probably do my Firebird in the near future.

I think when I bought mine, I paid $70 something for the (4) head light conversion, only way to go.

I've run several styles of modern glass housings that look stock, but allow a modern bulb. They're awesome, very bright, and aren't anywhere near expensive as that Holley setup.

You can look at some of my build threads, I've done all LED lately.

On the 442 I got the AutoPal H4 conversion housings for like $25ea, and think I paid like $85 for all 4 LED bulbs.

I did the entire tribute car in LED, think I might have $350 in it. And I did EVERYTHING in LED.

The selection, and function/performance of housings and LED bulbs have come light years in just the last year or so, no pun intended, there's no reason to pay ridiculous prices for that stuff.

Yeah the cars I've converted to LED headlights I've ended up doing the entire car in LED. Interior and exterior. Last time my son was following me to a car event he complained my tail lights were hard to see in the daytime. Not a good thing. LED's fixed that problem. That prompted me to just do everything in LED on all the cars I've converted so far.

Neat part, is noticing on the Chevelle for instance, since it has a Holley Sniper and monitors voltage down to the tenth, and watching voltage pick up at idle a solid 3/4 of a point.

You guys who’ve done it *and shared the process here on the forum*, care to share the link to your write-ups?

For led headlights, but also interested in led Taillights.

My build threads are in my sig, I think the 442 has the AutoPal stuff listed with part numbers.

On the tribute car, I did most from SuperBrightLEDS, and you basically just get replacement bulbs for the existing bulbs, like, 1157 has a corresponding LED bulb, for example.

Used to be some weird stuff where all LEDs were not the same, some you couldn't dim, and in some cases you had to replace all the bulbs in the car to avoid certain conditions, but that stuff is all of the past now. About the only that's recommended, is to swap the flasher units out with LED compatible ones.

On headlight enclosures, there are some that throw light for specific type bulbs, and some LEDs throw light in a specific way, but that too is now been addressed, and there are both enclosures and bulbs that throw correctly for conversions. Read the bulb and enclosure specs.

SuperbrightLEDs.com is a good site where you enter the application and get you all the part numbers for your bulbs:

The LED bulbs I've found that I really like are the LED's that have the projection lens on them. Like these here.....

https://www.amazon.com/iBrightstar-N...s%2C117&sr=8-1

I've found they do a better job shooting the light straight out at the lens for a much brighter affect. Most other LED's just have the light around the parameter of the bulb. What I also found is it's best to buy these in the color of the lens you're putting it behind. They make these LED's in different colors. I'll put yellow LED's behind yellow lenses, red behind red etc.... This keeps from bleaching out the color of the lens itself with a pure white LED bulbs, making the lights more red or more yellow for a much better and more pronounced appearance. You'll pay more for these but.....

Yeah, I was talking about headlights, and think the ones I mean are called '360 degree' light emmitance, but would have to look again.

The enclosure reflectors still make a difference, but if you get a type that is for halogen bulbs, the 360 degree bulbs work.

Here's the standard tail light bulbs from SuperBrightLED:

They are plenty bright.

As far as just the headlights are concerned, I prefer the conversion lenses that appear stock and accept the H4 bulbs.

The lenses I've bought here I've been pretty happy with....

https://www.amazon.com/IPCW-CWC-7006...s%2C123&sr=8-2

Then for a bulb I really like the lightening dark LED H4. They are one of the only LED bulbs I've found that actually show a major difference between low beam and high beam, and can be adjusted to project the beams properly with a nice pattern. They don't have that horrible scattered pattern that so many LED's have.

Yes, those IPCW ones work well.

On the bulbs, they are tricky about how they list the 360 degree bulbs. Some say '360 degree ADJUSTABLE', which is very different than 360 pattern.

As mentioned, you're usually in good shape if you use H4 enclosures, and LED bulbs that are 'conversion' H4 bulbs.
