Default 68 Air Cleaner

My car’s original owner used an open element air cleaner on the car since it wasn’t driven in the winter months. The original was used for another project long ago. When The car was restored back in 03, a later dual snorkel was used. When the car was taken to shows, a 68 unit was borrowed from another local 68 owner. I finally found a correct air cleaner and had it painted by the shop that restored the car. They saved the service instruction stamp by feathering in the black and then clearing over it. We were worried that it would lift the stamping paint, but it didn’t. what do you guys think? Does it look ok?

Looks great in the pics. Unless you pointed it out to a judge, I think you and the guy that did the work will be the only ones that know. JMO.

Nicely done. I just repainted mine recently and was lamenting that the decals just don’t cut it.

Rather have that than a decal, but most of us have to use decals

Looks great from here. The way they did it is about the only way that I can imagine saving it.

Great job!

Always wondered why some applications had the stenciled white lettering like yours and others had white decals. In 1969 it seems that the Dual snorkel from the GTO and all 2 bbl engines used a white decal but the other four barrel air cleaners (the large single snorkel and the small single snorkel) all had the stenciling.

Thanks guys for the approvals. They say it’s all in the details!
