Perhaps it harkens back to my Active Duty days... but cargo pants are the answer. Phone io phones in the Left cargo pocket, bottle of water in the right cargo pocket.
Have been doing this for.... well... too long.
When in the car or truck phone can be found in the console tethered to the head unit for music or navigation.
As far as a wallet; you can't beat a money clamp in the left front and keys in the right front. Only carry a house key and the key to the vehicle I am currently driving. 50 lb key ring can be left locked in the trunk.... never understood that.

I'm wearing cargo pants more these days. My morning routine is gun/wallet/keys/phone.

People don’t pick pocket anymore, you get a gun in the face and they say gimme your wallet.

I carry one of those modern style wallets. It's basically two credit card sized carbon fiber rectangles. They are connected by elastic. All of your cards go between the carbon fiber pieces and the elastic keeps tension. There's a money clip for cash on one side.
Fits very comfortably in the front pocket. Not much bigger than a Zippo lighter.

Fat wallets are usually full of other junk besides money.

Well, the context is air travel, meaning the "sterile" environment where my fellow travelers have cleared security.

Bill, just finished a straight through 18 hour, 1100 mile drive, remembered your advice and kept my wallet (not huge) in the console. Made a difference in my comfort for sure. Third time I have made the exact same drive non-stop so I have good data to compare.
